I test drove a MY12 A4 Avant TDi SE Technik on the weekend for my wife.

The car has 43k on the clock, can anyone tell me what the service intervals should be?

The dealer emailed me the service history this morning:

22,454 miles no date
31,407 miles 7/04/15
41,447 miles 15/04/16

The first service seems rather late and how it possible to not have a date for the first recorded service? Will a main dealer provide any further info?

Lastly, when is the timing belt due?

Thanks in advance

Personally I would say that first ever service was pretty late, but it's nothing I havnt seen before on these VAG cars.

Timing belt is usually 5 years or 50,000 miles.

It will probably on long life service plan which is 20k or every 2 years.

If I had a brand new car i would prefer the first service after a year. But that's me.

I had a 2011 version of this car as a company car which went back last year to be replaced by a Q3 S-line - it was a great car never missed a beat in over 70,000 miles. From memory the servicing was roughly every 12,000 miles but the car will tell you as there is a service schedule accessed via the MMI controller and this also comes up on the main display with a countdown from I believe about 1500 miles out.

My 2010 A4 2.0 tdi was on variable service schedule.

It went 22000 miles between a service when I was doing a lot of motorway miles.

It didn't have its cambelt changed until 125000 miles.

Same with the Q3 a June 2015 face lifted car with the 150 bhp tdi engine and 2wd. Its covered 32K miles to date only one service and another not due for another 6K miles according to the all knowing MMI
