Seen this. Really likey. But high mileage W12.

I know these are potential money pits compared to the 3.0 TDI etc but....are they good? People call the W series engines gruff.... I can't see Audi putting a gruff engine in its top of the line model?

I've been looking at these as a potential replacement to my Phaeton V10 diesel, as it seems that late W12 Phaeton's sell in about three days of being advertised and I may fancy a change in the future. There is a guy over on VW Vortex Phaeton section who has just bought a W12 A8 and has posted his initial thoughts on the car.

It would seem that Audi charge as extras things like cooled massage seats etc so I for one have to look carefully at the spec as these things come as standard on the Phaeton.

Interesting comment about the gruff engine sound because several people have commented that the Phaeton W12's engine sounds gruff too. I can't say I noticed it when I tried the W12 Phaeton I quite liked the sound it reminds you in a very refined atmosphere the car creates that you have a total monster of an engine under the bonnet.

Like all bargain basement Power Luxo Barges full service history is essential then find yourself a good independent who is an actual mechanic. Hopefully they will provide years of relatively inexpensive wafting but it does pay to have a wad of cash put to one side just in case.
