Caterham Fibreglass
Discussion
Does anyone know where to get Caterham Fibreglass from other than Caterham ?
They're currently out of stock and i need a full set / Wings / Nosecone.
I've seen a company called KitCarDirect that make these. However im not sure on the fitment quality or the grade of the fibreglass.
I previously ordered a Carbon Fibre Wind Deflector from them and found the thickness of the product to be very thin and thus wobbly.
Colour / Finish isnt an issue as i'll be getting them sprayed by a bodyshop. So if they come in primer only.. that'd be fine.
Many Thanks

I ordered replacement carbon cycle wings from KitCarDirect recently. The look nice enough, the only difference being that the underneath appears to be a mesh of resin and glue unlike the Caterham ones which were carbon all over.
I've yet to fit them, but the rough underside should mean they'll be easier to bond on with sikaflex than the original parts.

Dartford Composites used to do them for Caterham. I think they will still supply individuals with "similar" parts that just might be made in the moulds they used to use for caterham and just might be made with identical materials.
Thanks Battered, i've made contact with Dartford Composites and will await their response.framerateuk said:

How did you find the overall thickness of the product compared to Caterham Parts ?I've yet to fit them, but the rough underside should mean they'll be easier to bond on with sikaflex than the original parts.

Thickness wise I'd say they're about the same. The colour is a bit different though. The Catherham carbon always looked a little yellow/green to my eyes, while this is a much blacker colour.
Kitcardirect carbon parts aren't proper carbon. They are carbon laid over fibreglass hence the rough under side. I have their dash and aeroscreen.
Fitment is fine. As for bodywork, I didn't know they made them for a caterham. I know they make them for the Haynes based kits though the dimensions would be quite different between a Haynes and caterham.
