Tell me about it. I was beginning to get a serious complex.

To the point that, even now, I mentally add £1,800 to the price I paid for the car.

I haven't washed the fker for four months though, so who's laughing now, eh? biggrin

9 months in with mine and love it!

Hate the fake engine noise in sport but other than that it's great
Dsg box is great and I've just changed from the god awful bridgestones to Goodyear eagle F1 asymmetric 3 got them at £91.12 with vat fitted by vw (they will price match black circles)

Terrified of it getting nicked though &I don't rate apple car play

Handles superb and gives a lot of confidence

I use Michelin Pilot sports on mine, I think they were ps2's which you will struggle to find now. The difference is night and day, it will still break traction on wet roads but nowhere near as often

The radar cruise works really well in traffic with the dsg box and the autohold on too. It will completely bring the car to a stop when it detects the traffic has stopped, press the res button and it will move away again. You need to trust the technology but it's great in crawling traffic.
I really need to read the manual, I've had mine two years and I didn't realise the resume button would get the car moving again, I've always touched the throttle and jerkily pulled away!

Looking forward to taking delivery of a three door on Thursday in Pure White with PP and pretty much every option except auto park and leather (the tartan just seemed so right for the car, and brings back some good memories smile).

Cheers

I'm 6 weeks and 3500 miles into my Golf GTD. My findings are very similar to the OPs .

Best company car I've had, though can't wait to swop out the standard Bridgestone S001s for something with better wet weather traction.

Had my GTI now for around 2.5 months from new and have covered just over 5000 miles in that time. I had looked at getting a GTI a few times over the years but never quite got there whether it be due to cost or the amount of miles I was doing at the time. Was initially looking to go down the used BMW route again, but didn't particularly see eye to eye with the dealer who was trying to convince me that he was doing me a great deal at nearly 14% APR!

Got back home that day, saw a cracking deal online that worked out at around 22% discount, I could get an R at a similar discount but decided to go for a nicely specced GTI as I spend the majority of my time doing motorway miles and like to have a few creature comforts. Bought the car completely blind without a test drive or even going to a garage and have absolutely no regrets.

Averaging 33mpg long term at the moment, but I didn't buy a hot hatch to drive it in Eco mode. Tried it once, but we didn't get along. Pretty much keep it in normal mode, but really need to get around to setting up individual mode at some point. This is my first auto and with the amount of time I seem to spend sat in traffic, I am loving the DSG box and the adaptive cruise is a complete game changer. I also like how pulling back on the shifter will change the box mode to sport as and when I need it before tapping it back into drive. Couldn't live with the sport ratio full time.

What I love most about it is how it can seamlessly switch from being a comfortable commuter to being so much fun to drive on a quiet twisty national speed limit road. Driving the GTI, I don't for one minute regret not getting another BMW.

Anyone else got a manual that's a bit notchy?

Mines a 14 plate with 30k, sure it's getting worse. Need to go to the dealer but I don't hold out much hope, probably a "characteristic of the car".
