I see there is a white CSS for sale at VW main dealer. Rare car but it must be the first Golf GTI in history to be selling for a premium.

I'll bet a mk1 costs more today than when it was new!

Yes and to be fair with all the trick bits, aluminium sub frame, forged engine with 330 PS when dynod by Sport Auto, alcantara all over the place, special exhaust, trick tyres, and only 150 RHD you could argue VW sold this car at a discount new bit like Porsche does with GT cars. Probably much rarer than good condition Mk1s too. One of the quickest cars I have driven cross country. The confidence it gives you is amazing. Can't wait to try one on track.

Probably is (when new, at least) - although premiums being so widely asked for limited models is a relatively modern concept.

Even GT Porsches used to depreciate wink

4 now - ranging from £41k to £46k all with less than 300 miles.

What was list?

There are about 20 for sale at the moment. Lowest is asking £38800. Still further to fall I hope as I am after a black one but can't bring myself to pay overs for a two seat Golf...

You should just go buy the cheapest one. Doubt delivery miles cars will ever be below list. Think list was £35k.

Go and buy one, I bought mine last month and it's the best car I've bought for ages. Superb car.

Looking at one tomorrow - black. But prices seem to be weakening fast. There are two under £38k now. Hopefully driving one will bring out my impulsive man maths side 😳

Just look on AT, 14 for sale! That's nearly 10% of the uk allocation.

Hope the prices fall further.

True. In no rush. And new model with DCC and rumoured performance pack is going to be an interesting package too - so I was told today. Albeit no S, more practical for my needs.

Wow this one at VW dealer just knocked £8000 off - very close to list from a maindealer

Classic anchoring strategy. 8k off makes it look a bargain. But in truth it is still more than 3k over list.

Far from me advising you how to buy a car but the key thing to look at is depreciation. Even at £37k this CSS is going to depreciate far less than a PP model. So long run even a CSS at
£3k over list is a better bet than a cooking GTI if you can put up with stripped out lw 2 seater

Anyone driven both a Clubspoort S and a Megane Trophy/Trophy R? How do they compare, in particular for B-road driving?

Also, how different/better is the Clubsport S over the Clubsport 40 from a driving perspective?

Thanks
