OP - sadly you can buy every gadget/deterrent known to man, that may not help you when a group approach you in broad daylight to hand over the keys or have your head smashed in, unfortunately that happened to me.

Seems to be this notion that they only come at night and take your possessions.. They are more likely to take the car when you are in it or close around it to make it easier for them.

I think the reality is if you have something like an S3, RS3, R etc. Your chances of theft are just a little bit higher and could be the unlucky one..Do not under estimate the lengths they will go to.

My case is still not closed well over 2.5 years ago, so those thief's are still at large ruining people's lives! With respect to the stats, no idea why the Golf R is not on the list, at the time so many were going missing, I suspect the high production number dilutes the overall number...

Having an S3/RS3 or Golf R will increase the chances of you being a 'target', as would you be getting mugged for money if you were expensively dressed or had expensive jewelry or watch on display. Same goes for a nice house which is more likely to be burgled. Unfortunately this is a fact of life in the UK these days. You have just got to be as vidulent as you can if you have nice stuff.

Going back to the OP for a minute.

There's a massive difference between a deterrent and something stealth that will prevent them driving off in your car.

The deterrent should stop them trying in the first place. The stealth ones will only stop them once they've broken in.

to the OP, just be careful when parking it. to my surprise my audi got stolen in broad daylight in my office car park with cctv cameras everywhere, via the obd port in 2016
now my obd port is disabled they cannot do it that way again nor do it with the scanners as i keep the keys in a faraday pouch.
i have also been attempted car hijacked twice - once with weapons involved, when 4 guys with balaclavas surrounded my car as i had parked up outside a petrol station making a phone call , they pulled a firearm out- i just started the car and drove off and the last time was at mcdonalds car park about 4 months ago when again i was surrounded by few guys asking me to open the door - i just drove off
both of these incidents happened to birmingham- so basically avoid birmingham

Unless you have hot off the press info regards the ghost being discontinued,I think that you may be confused with one of their older immobilisers, such as the 239ti.The Ghost is one of their latest products and appears to be actively supported with upgrades.I would still recommend it as an essential security product.
If you have anything further though, post up please.

Easiest way is too buy the 3 door version so they can't do robberies in it.

Thus, they won't want it in the first place smile
