Hi all

Just would like to ask if anyone knows of any profitable business ventures to explore. My friend has become unemployed and is thinking of starting his own business. He's asked for my advice and I'm struggling to give him any. It's got me thinking, what profitable business ventures are out there? They don't necessarily have to be a big earner but something you can receive a suitable income from.

Would just like to hear your thoughts and opinions. Much appreciated

Well if I had I don't think I would tell everyone on a public forum that's for sure. Bizarre post ie please tell me how to make money.

Buy some houses and rent them out, there you go. Or perhaps advise him to buy a van and start a van hire company. Or if he is a friend and you need staff........... Employ him

He has a limited budget due to him being recently made redundant. I did recommend to him EBay trading but as you may have seen from previous forums, EBay trading is something which only provides a limited amount of income and is highly risked thus would be more suitable for someone that is doing it on the side.

Due to his redundancy, hes seen as a bit of a high risk by the Banks. 😬

Buy a burger van!

Not joking. I met a guy who had been made redundant in his late 50s. He was a highly qualified chemical engineer. He could not find another job and out of desperation got a burger van and parked it up on an industrial estate nearby. Within months he was taking £3500 a week at 80% GM.

Advise him to do what he's good at. Anything else will be high risk. Good luck!

I was inclined to call BS, but did the maths... 3500/week = 700/day (5 day week) = 140 people spending £5 each. Neat.

When I spoke to him about it he had two issues; firstly the physical effort, being on his feet all day, and then worried about being mugged for the cash takings. I was really happy for him. It's great that those who get chucked on the scrap heap prematurely can get a new lease of life.
