e to as the V8 S4 I had was pretty brisk
I'm fairly confident my v8 would be quicker than a scirocco running the figures quoted.

Pretty sure a healthy S4 would too

Yes, but perma 4wd saps a lot of power.
And extra 300-400kg is not to be sniffed at.
Power weight probably is far off either way.
I have semi stripped my car with lightweight seats, removal of rear seats, light wheels, carbon bonnet etc.

I vaguely remember you getting similar or maybe slightly better times than me in that at Santa Pod on the PH SS last year (I was in my S5 V8).
Maybe bud. Dont remember the car Im afraid. frown
My best time is 13.6 at 102.

Of course, off the line I'd have no chance.
On the plus I have zero mechanical sympathy haha smile

Hopefully this year PHSS at pod will be more fun. smile

Dare I say it, I think an S5 V8 is far more desirable in every way I can think of than a scirocco diesel. This is only an opinion by the way, not a personal dig.

Patently rubbish as mine did. And I've seen others do too.

Yes some are down on power. But it's not hard to get them back on song.

The torque on your car will be a major factor in acceleration - it has almost 50% more. Weight helps on acceleration too.

However, there's a large dose of "so what". Give me a good n/a V8 over a diesel every single day of every single week no matter how fast the latter is smile

I'd also be interested to see comparable lap times...straight line acceleration is a relatively small factor for a performance car.

But as long as you love your car, that's genuinely all that matters smile

I agree.

But we are talking about v8 vs v6 supercharged s5/s4

And the v6 is the better engine smile

Audi ditched the V8 for a reason, the supercharged 3.0 is an absolute cracker. The v8 feels very lethargic in comparison (despite higher headline bhp). To be clear, the v8 in the S4/5 is a very different engine to the v8 in the RS4/r8 and doesn't have the same coking issues these have.
V8 for sound
V6 for power

Yeah off the line I beat every car I was up against including a C63 AMG, but that's just Quattro for you!

My best time that day was 14.3 and it couldn't get above 97mph
