A few things I've found out over the last week playing about with the car.
1. You can set the memory buttons to do anything, not just radio stations, call people etc, just do what you want on the MMI, then hold down the button you want it to be for a few seconds.
2. On the memory buttons, when you sit your finger on them, a display on the MMI screen comes up showing you what button your touching and what each button is set to.
3. You can close the boot (sportback) by holding the button on the drivers door
4. There is also a button on the drivers door you can press as you leave that deactivates the internal alarm sensor, for dogs, kids etc.
5. You can get Streetview. When you drag your MMI pad to a new destination, the yellow man appears, push the pad to the right, scroll down to "Streetview" and there it is, you can then use the pad to go up and down the street and look up or down, the same way you would on a PC.
6. It plays DVDs! Stick in Lethal Weapon 2* to the CD slot, and low and behold, lethal weapon 2* is on in your car! (*other DVDs are available)
7. There are "curry hooks" either side of the boot.
That's it for the moment...
You can get the DVD's to play on the move (for passengers only of course!!) by changing a setting using VCDS. I have read that you can also do this using the MMI 'hidden functions' menu, but as yet I have not found out how to access this screen without VCDS. On B8's there was a specific button pressing sequence to view this menu.1. Just a quick post for anyone installing a TDI tuning box.
I have had some emails from people struggling to connect the harness plugs correctly and getting a 'start/stop' error. To save you the grief, please PM me first for close up photo's on where things should go and which way round!.....the fitting instructions are not that clear and it is easy to make a mistake.

Can we stop talking about the tdi tuning box please? I get my bonus on the last day of the month and my mrs expects to have some flights booked soon after. Those flights are current at risk!
Tell her you'll get there quicker in the S5 with a TDI tuning box installed.....BTW, the car sounds great now with a TDI TUNING BOX!!!! Mrjww88 said:
So guys here is my intial thoughts on the TDI Tuning Box.
Drove down to the Manchester Branch and was greeted by the two guys who work there. First off service there was fantastic two nice guys who know what they were talking about.
Installation took less than ten minutes and it was a very neat clean job. Answered any questions and queries I had.
Now onto the Box. I tried it in default mode 4 and it was considerably quicker. I then switched to mode 7 and dear lord. The mid range it was so much punchier and stronger.
The car sounds reasonably louder the pops and crackles still sound the same but the engine note appears to be more aggressive under load.
I believe in mode 7 it is around 408-410bhp and to be honest i feel this is how the car should have come out the factory!
Also the launch control is now brutal! I would be very interested to know the 0-60 times. I believe standard is 4.4 however i am sure this could now be as low as 4.1 or 4 seconds flat for those of you who are interested in that!
I am now running the car in mode 6 as i feel this offers the best balance and feel. Mode 7 is ridiculously quick but it feels more poised in mode 6.
I will post some further thoughts once I have driven it more as its only been a day. Overall thoughts, Well worth the money and i would be shocked if anyone was not blown away by it.
Well I'm glad I'm not the only one to be blown away with this box. Seems we both agree that setting 6 is better, but on 7 I got roughly 0-62mph in 4.0 seconds, although I think 6 is near the same, but as you said 7 is a bit brutal. This makes the S5 in theory faster than the published 4.3 sec BMW M4 and RS3. I did post previously that a 2017 RS3 could not keep up with me, so this bears this out. TBH, I think it's best to forget about saving fuel with it as it sort of defeats the object, as you cannot resist the smile on your face when you floor it. When you think about it, for £649.00 you are getting the performance of cars costing 20k more...mad isn't it.Drove down to the Manchester Branch and was greeted by the two guys who work there. What modes are you both running on? 4 is the max for normal fuel isn't it IIRC? If I had a spare £649 I'd be tempted!
4 or less is best for fuel consumption. I am running on 6 same as mrjw88 for best performance and not worrying about fuel consumption. TBH, I've given up bothering about it and just enjoying the performance instead.Polishdominator said:
Will this damage the engine ? 15 k miles a year ( 3 years deal) I don't really care about the fuel consumption
I had one (RaceChip Pro) on a new leased SLK running on max setting for 40k miles with not a single issue. I don't think the TDI one will be any different in that respect.gatdecor said:

The price isn't the issue it's availability. I don't drive past a station on a regular basis that sells 99 stuff unless I go out of my way to get it.
The Audi connect works well for finding Tesco petrol stations
Easily solved then. You can run on standard with settings 1-4, so when you have the chance to fill up with 99 you can switch to 6.The Audi connect works well for finding Tesco petrol stations

MTM seem to have a whole package but I can only find the map on their website. Not sure if one of their exhausts are in this video but it's much more meaty https://youtu.be/WD1i1VCJVz4
Miltek are also working on an exhaust but it hasn't been released yet.
Just watched the video interesting the first proper video i have seen of an exhaust system for this engine. I have seena teaser video of some revs for the milltek exhaust on their instagram page. That will be my next and last mod ??Miltek are also working on an exhaust but it hasn't been released yet.

It's not a "chip" really, it's external module that plugs into the wiring loom and sends fake sensor data to the ECU.
Obviously it would depends on how the engine breaks, but they'd probably have a pretty good idea of why it might have failed. Tuning boxes won't set the TD1 flag in the ECU (unlike a remap) but even trivial stuff like damaged/rearranged connectors could send them scurrying towards your social media posts.
The problem is that regardless of evidence if they just say "nah, ain't gonna fix it", what then?
I'd say the risk is very low, but the consequences aren't pretty - doubly so if the car is on finance/lease.
I have one fitted previously on an SLK for 40k miles with no issues at all. Even with minor warranty repairs and dealer servicing. Car was returned over a year ago and nothing since. This is why I opted for another as in my mind they are tried and tested, do the job, can easily be removed without trace. Dealers are not detectives and certainly would not scour all the 1000's of threads on hundreds of sites looking for a clue to a potential chip user. As for the plugs, they are not sealed so why on earth would they suspect a chip as a culprit?.....There is no thread on any site that I have seen blaming a chip tune for engine failure, or indeed dealers blaming a warranty repair on a chip tune. It's entirely up to the owner wether they want to purchase one or not and for whatever reason, but if the reason is because you are worried of being 'found out' then don't buy one as the worry will obviously be too stressful as opposed to the performance benefits gained.Obviously it would depends on how the engine breaks, but they'd probably have a pretty good idea of why it might have failed. Ah ok. Thanks for the info. I will probably not get one but any thoughts on the company to use?
TDI Tuning. On setting 6 it goes like rocket. BTW, the chip 'fooling' the ECU is an incorrect description as is any 'possible' EGR log. Don't let people put you off who have no real knowledge of how the TDI unit works.Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
