Mine was in for it's service ( 18600 miles) - fronts down to 3mm rears 3.5-4mm. Hankooks and lots of motorway driving.

Returned just now ( collect and deliver) in the dark with the front parked away from the house. I'll just do a quick check with the phone torch.......

So just waiting for the service manager to call me back now.
Just a quick note to wrap this up.
The repair was done and looks fine. No comeback can happen from the leasing company as it was audi approved bodyshop that did it.
As I've mentioned elsewhere on here, the tyres that should be changed by audi service don't need changing according to Audi Finance. rolleyes

That's because they normally want to sell you some tyres when they are only about half worn! But when the shoe is on the other foot...

I had about 4mm on one tyre when mine went for a service, they were after selling me one. I was like, 2.4mm to go, that's a few thousand miles FFS

Sorry to dig up an old topic, but how are the TDI tuning boxes still going for those that have them?

Going fine for me. Had mine on for the past 16 months and just leave it at level 6 I think (1 down from the top setting). No issues to date

Nice.

Do you use the delay feature at all for startup (I think it's the Bluetooth offering which you can control through the app) or do you just have it on from cold?

What security measures have you guys been using. Do you leave it on a driveway etc

I've come so close to buying one and then backed away with this concern but can't get it out my head

Live 35 miles away from the nearest city is my tactic!

Where my parents live, a few high end Audis have been nicked. So whenever I visit I use a 1980s steering lock and my parents' car to block mine in on the driveway overnight.

So my car is 12 months old and at 9500 miles but no sign of a service indicator yet.
Did your cars flash up a warning or indicator? If so what mileage?

I am thinking of getting the service done asap anyway - what kind of price have you all paid?
I replied on the other thread re the miles forgot to put how much! I got a oil and inspection quote from Audi dealers at 15000 miles and 1 year and they ranged from £475 (Harrogate) to £256 ish (Hull). So it's worth shopping about.
I avoid the main stealers. Had an oil change done at a local Audi approved service centre & they updated the service record electronically for £120.00 all in. IMO they did a better job as well by checking ALL fluid levels, tyre pressures, & checked for any error codes, and even cleaned the car really well too clap. Also, I left the tuning box connected....no problem at all. The manager even said he would code anything (that works) for £40 if I gave him a list of tweaks I wanted!!….so obviously now working on my wish list.
How do you know if its Audi approved? I am wary with it being on a lease!

There's no such thing, really. Audi don't 'approve' anything other than main dealer servicing.

However, EU Block Exemption rules means Audi can't invalidate your warranty if a car was correctly serviced using genuine parts, but outside the dealer network - but it's quite possible that your lease contract *requires* you to use main dealer servicing, regardless.

I recall IJB1959 mentioning he contacted his lease company to check what he was allowed to do. If you're in any doubt, I'd do the same, as different contracts can have different Ts & Cs.

Finally got my S5 last week. Really enjoying it but just had a question on fuel consumption and the range display on the dash. Yesterday I was at 125 miles and I noticed no matter how far I was going it dropped by 5 miles on the trip there and back. The round trip was no more than 3 miles.

So I've done 6 miles in 2 days and the range has gone from 125 miles to 95 miles.

I am not massively concerned about economy otherwise I wouldn't have got the car but this seems a bit crazy. Was not particularly using many other features like seat heating etc. either.

What has your mpg been over that last few days? I would hazard a guess single figures and that's why it has lost loads of range

Yes, the range is calculated based on recent MPG, which will be killed by short trips like that.

Ah, it's been about 11 which is probably right in relation to the short trips!!

Absolutely. I have never seen more than 300 miles to a tank (usual is more like 220 - 250), but my read-out will still read 435 'to go' once I re-fill. The steep drop off in potential miles in the tank is something you become accustomed too smile

But on the right sort of journeys you can get 400 out of them, the silly thing is it doesn't seem to base it on your average. I normally get 320-360 depending on the number of long journeys.

Cheers for the info guys. Mine will be mostly used for short journeys so imagine it'll always be crap for me and something I'll get used to. At least Petrol is cheaper than Diesel smile

Another quick one - does the type of Petrol you're putting in make any difference to MPG? I've just been using bog standard Esso Petrol since I got it...
