Clocking up miles

Our Skoda Fabia 1.9tdi estate has worked hard for us over the past nine years, numerous trips to the recycle/tip loaded with all sorts. All the old crap following our house refurb', motorway trips, shopping trips. Now showing 194,000 miles and still 100% good. Cheap as chips to run to the point my wife refuses to get rid.
Looking at new cars full of technology we wouldn't use or want, and the huge repair bills when these new cars go wrong. Car park scrapes are all part and parcel of urban car warfare so think we will hang on to old Skoda for a while longer.

If it works for you, then why change?

It's certainly run in. Mileage is just a number and cars are for driving so as said above if it works for you just keep it going until it becomes uneconomical to do so

Look on Briskoda and you'll find yours is way down on the high mileage cars.

I'm old enough (sadly) to recall the days when a 100,000 miler would be a scrapper. body and chassis full of rot and engine an oil burning old knocker. How motoring has changed in just four decades.

My Scirocco has done nearly 180k

Still goes well, it's a bit broken but that's my own fault and nothing a few gaskets can't sort!

They do last well mechanically despite the internet telling you they will all blow up.

My MK2 Golf has 208k on it at moment and is getting used daily, mind you the engine only has about 150k on it.
