Hi,

After nearly purchasing a S4 b8, which i had researched to death, we have had a change of direction, and think as a more family friendly option the Q5 3.0 will suit better.. I have not had much time to do any research yet and going to look at one tomorrow (after test driving another one this morning).

Its there anything to really worry about on these? Seems a few issues with the 2.0T and oil consumption, but not much on the 3.0 (unless someone purchases a friday afternoon car)

Looking at a Q5 2011/2?

Good cars but like any Audi they need a big old wave of the option stick. Even the (then) top of the line 3.0 S-Line came with very little as standard.

The torquey V6 diesel suits the car really well and real-world economy compared to the 4-cylinder is little different. S-Tronic box was pretty well sorted by that age but does require 40k mile oil changes. These are important. The aux belt tensioner on VAG V6 TDIs of that age isn't great and most will die at some point so if you're looking at a miley car consider it a piece of preventative maintenance (not expensive). Inlet manifold faults generally sorted by that age but still pop up. Rebuilt manifolds are not expensive.

Look for electric seats, Bang & Olufsen, Heated seats, & navigation plus. Drive Select with damper control is really good but very rare. 20s look the biz but they do ride better on 19s.

Got one now. got the v6 with 8K's worth of options.. With all the stuff above and a lot more (but no Drive Select). It goes quite well, and it a nice place to be for the trips up and down to Scotland from Bath.
