Because nothing says car-nut like a 3 cylinder, sub 1000cc micro car.....

A 2014, £2.5k Mii SE for the elder Claphamette to learn to drive in and then have as her 1st car.

Actually not too bad and, as a package, a big step on from the Peugeot 106/Nissan Micras/Mk3 Polos I was buying for au pairs 10 years ago

I recently bought a Citigo for my eldest to learn in and have found the same, the ride quality is really impressive for the class of car it is.

His is a 2013 60bhp one and only the lack of Bluetooth is letting it down.

It's so good the wife is toying with the idea of binning her Mk7 Golf for an Up! TSI.

I had a Citigo. The Bluetooth is through the Garmin satnav/media/trip computer unit that plugs into the top of the dash if yours has the connector for it.

We’ve got a 64 plate that we bought brand new for my daughter’s 21st, which has now changed hands and is my wife’s. Fantastic thing and a proper hoot to drive and turns like a fly. The only let down is the radio, which is probably the worst I’ve ever seen (although I suspect there’s something wrong with it rather than it being just rubbish).

He's got the connector on the top of the dash but no unit as yet. I keep checking local selling pages for one but no joy so far.

An alternative option could be one of those external Carplay/Android Auto screens. It won't connect to the dashboard Garmin connector but you could position it on the dash in a similar way. Modern Heroes on YouTube/Toaster Pilot on here tested one a few weeks ago.

Can't fault the UP!/Mii/CitiGo's. Feels much bigger than it is most of the time and feels far more solid and refined than older 106/107/Fiesta's/Polo's IMO. I bought my Mii FR-Line 2.5 years ago now and it has been faultless.

I do all the basic maintenance myself too (so far!) which makes it dirt cheap to run..well under £300 in parts/oil for a major + 2X oil & filter services, drop links, discs & pads and ARB bushes.

Perfect first car.

You can buy the official phone holder for these cars, allows you to use your phone as the infotainment screen and play music via bluetooth,

That one only fits the late 2016 models onwards.

It won't clip in to the port on the dash of the earlier one's sadly.

Mrs has one. Great little back to basics, no, frills, no more than you need car. Had it at least 3yrs with zero issues. Great for pottering around town. Better on a motorway than I thought it would be, will happily plod along at 70mph without screaming it's head off.

Colleague has the Gti variant but I found it a little underwhelming.

Interesting point about these cars

Cambelts?

Seat say inspect belt at 130k?

Just inspect?

Vw & skoda claim no recommended replacement intervals on same engine codes.

Looking to keep our three long term, so interested to hear technicians views on cambelts for these

We have one of each, Vw, Citigo, mii

I got my son's replaced at 10 years old when it was on 81,000 miles more for peace of mind more than anything.

I think it cost around £450.

Another option is BT/FM adaptor that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket. Ours is also a USB charger.

The phone connects via BT to the adaptor, the adaptor broadcasts on an FM channel. Just tune a preset to the right channel.

Does this fix it? (sorry for the massive URL)

Sorry, can't help with an answer to that one.

But we have all three models, Up/Citigo/mii

The 2015 Up, and 2013 Citigo interchange

The 2017 Mii is different, although looks the same visually, that one won't fit into the other car's dash port.
