So my wife has just retired our A6 C6 Allroad, and we are now looking to get a replacement. Given budget (8-12k) looking at the A6 C7, it would have to be in 240+ version of the 3.0tdi, I think realistically the 3.0BiTDi is just out of our price range for a decent one.

The big question is whether to go for an Allroad or just the normal Avant. Our previous Allroad did throw up a few air suspension issues which I'd just shelled a bit out on (before it was written off). So given the main reason for the quattro is for snow and trips to the Alps, is the air suspension hassle of the Allroad worth it?

Has anyone had both and able to comment on the ride?

And how reliable is the A6 C7 Allroad air suspension?

Thanks.

I've had a C7 Allroad for around 6 months and I like it. I came from an A4 Allroad which does not have air suspension and find the A6 rides and handles much better.

Can't comment on reliablity but to date I've had to do one wheel bearing which is a bit disappointing after only 58,000 miles but my old A4 was bad for them too.

Overall I really like the car and 245bhp has more than enough grunt but there's always the worry of a big bill around the corner. But as I saved a fortune in layout and depreciation by buying used I see that as part of the deal.

I live in the country and often have to tackle tracks as part of my work so the air suspension and ability to adjust it is a bonus for me.
