I have my 16 mnth old A6 3.0tdi Le Mans Quattro for sale and have had no interest at all, apat from companies promising to match my car with people on their database!

Its a high spec car, and i thought the Daytona Grey was a great colour for it. Its priced below others on the market, but does have a slightly higher mileage.

Probably due to people not wanting to pay for big expensive luxury cars at the moment, plus the price of diesel on the up.

The whole market is pretty bad at the moment. Big cars in particular are not selling.

Because of credit crunch, road tax and high petrol prices peple seem to be staying put with wht they have for the time being

Mid-range diesels are ten a penny and viewed as expensive extravagance - if it was a V8 then the devil-may-cares would buy it, if it were a 2.0Tdi then you may get more interest. You've got the pick of the bunch.... which sadly currently resides in market no-man's land.

The only A6s I can sell at the moment are mad high spec 3.0TDI S-line Avants in the very high teens and low 20s.

I think this is the level at which they look like good value and depreciation is perceived to level off quite a lot. The Le Mans right now looks like it still has a sizable chunk of depreciating to do.

Doesn't help either that Audi are doing some blinding deals on brand new ones for company users.

Bit older than yours, but there was an auction report on the HonestJohn website the other day with this car:

Audi A6 3.0 V6 TDI quat Avant auto, sat, 05 reg, 35k miles £16,000s

- that's a lot of car for £16K.

There were also a couple of Merc's at very low prices, especially bearing in mind they were small engined diesel auto's, and they were still in warranty.

Yep - some great deals. I'm picking up a new 2.0TDi, CTV, saloon, limited edition in metallic on a 2 yr contract hire deal at £288pcm + VAT next week. That's cheap motoring for a brand new £30k car.

Is it cheap? OK, they don't do diesels in the US, but the petrol versions are more or less the same numbers as above, but in $ not £. So they're half the price.

I get 34 mpg average from my 3.0tdi and 40mpg on a run. Thts good for a luxury car that goes well and handles well too.

I need to get £25k for it, which is below book according to Parkers!

Parkers is usually well out of sync with the actual trade guides and the trade guides very often behind what they're actually selling for.

There are a lot of Le Mans on the market, cracking deals on new ones and a real fear of anything with a large engine. These cars are only selling if they're at extremely keen money.

It's cheap for the UK. Cheaper than an A4, C-class or 3 Series, never mind E-class or 5 series. Plus ltd edition comes with leather, sat nav and 18" wheels.

Your profile says you paid £33,500 new 16mths ago, and you also indicate you've put a fair few miles on it?

I think it would be nothing short of astonishing under almost any circumstances if you could get away with only dropping £8.5K.

I bought my Merc diesel auto at 5mths old, 6K miles, and it was over £10K less than new.

I am looking for an A6 Avant to replace my A4 Avant but there is no way I am buying a larger engined model - too thirsty - and will wait until the 2.0tdi comes down in price a fair bit yet.

I was lucky with my deal timed it exactlky right and got a car for less than used ones on the forecourt. Dealer won't match that deal now. The list for the spec of mine was £42k.

You can beat that price by about £40 a month if you shop around too.

You are probably right, but I have to say the difference between a 3.0 quattro and a 2.0 fgront whell drive is enormous. They feel like completely different cars. Certainly, for an every day car with no sporting pretensions the 2.0 is probably fine. It would be interesting to know what mpg people get from a 2.0 tdi, my 3.0 does 35mpg average and over 40 mpg on a run as long as i stay under 85mph. Not bad for a big automatic car that does 0-60 in 7 secs (when u ask it too)
