Hello all,

picked up my freinds 225TT yesterday for him after the exhaust fell off, aparently it ran rough as he drove it to the garage, one assumes it would be the lambda sensor playing up & maybe putting ecu into safe mode?

it seems now that it is running on 3, i had a quick look last night in the dark but couldn't really see any thing of use, ie sensor plug off or anything?

would this be normal for this engine & would we need to reset the ecu?

if so, how do we do that, remove battery terminals & short out leads?

any help appreciated thanks.

Should have the cars fault codes read.

The codes will be stored regardless.

I would check the basics first: is it just one cylinder that's missing, and is anything different about that eg HT leads hanging off, injector plug not connected securely, what condition are the plugs in?

Don`t have HT leads, just coil packs which do go wrong.

Read the fault codes! Otherwise you will be urinating into the wind.

The fault codes will send you to the correct cylinder that is misfiring or the oxygen sensor that is faulty.

it just seems funny that it ran ok until exhaust fell off, not had a chance to check leads yet, lifted the bonnet but was faced with yards & yards of plastic covers.

how would i read fault codes? i pressume take it to a garage?

...its not even my car...

vag.com is what you need to scan the car's ecu for fault codes

quite a few owners have it as audi will charge approx £50 to do this for you.

Coil packs are your first port of call, if your friend doesn't have a spare already, try switching them over (cylinders 1&2 are easy enough to get at)
