hi all, rang my local VW dealer today, explained to the technician that the EPC light comes on rarely (happened twice) and stays for a few seconds whilst driving, he said its most likely the throttle body shaft (something along those lines) that needs cleaning. He said it sounds a bit "off" at idle which it does at times and that if its had a new air filter put in (it has) it could be becuase of the greater amount of air being sucked in. My question is should I pay them £85? or is it such a rare occurance that i dont need to. The car is a 2004 1.4 FSI Golf.

Can i be the first to say what utter rubbish that is.

I doubt it was a technician you spoke to, but more likely a service advisor.
