Indicator problem on S3

My indicators have suddenly decided to stop working and only flash once maybe twice once engaged. I am slightly confused as the hazard lights work normally. I went to a local garage this morning (not Audi) and the chap I spoke to made it out as though it was a big problem! I am clearly hoping this is not the case. Any ideas what may be wrong? Any advice appreciated.

Hazard light switch works! It's solely the indicators that don't work.

I know, the electronics that flash the indicators, just happens to be inside the hazard light switch. Try indicating then hitting the hazard light switch, actually give it a clout, and turn the hazards on and off quickly, see if the indicators start to work again for a second or two.

I've got the same problem with my 1.8T. The hazard lights and indicators share the same relay switch (behind the hazard button on the dash). You can order and replace the part yourself, although I'm told it's quite tricky, but it'll save you a bit of money on labour.
