I am toying with the idea of a pre-registered stock car from VW.

There seems to be plenty of pre-reg. stock around and I want to get a deal seeing as it's a "buyers market".

Has anyone bought a "58" plate car for under £22K.

The spec. I am looking at is:

Black or Silver, DSG, Sat Nav plus the other bits.....parking sensors, winter pack etc.

There are plenty on vw.com at £23/24K but I don't want to pay that much.

Thanks in advance.

With DSG & Nav ?
sub £22k for one with both sounds like a good price.

A friend bought one six weeks ago. It wasn't pre registered, it was brand new from a UK VW dealer, he's the first name on the log book.

He paid £17,800 for it. Blue, 3dr, bog standard.

He said they had a silver 3dr wth black leather, sat nav and some other expensive option for £19,000.

£23k it way OTT these days I think for them.

You'd be mad to pay 22k, basically there have been some amazing bargains on these due to the high tax band, low mpg and the current economy. At first it was kept pretty quiet and rumoured that 700 were just waiting to be sold, so loads went dirt cheap (maybe you have seen a few about lately, I know I have!).

The resell value of these is very little, the ones you see at 20k+ are in dreamland.

So anyway, the asking price may be 22k but if the dealer knows you are serious they will give you a true price, I'd expect around 19-20.5 depending on how it goes.

Here are a few threads about it:

Dealers:

http://www.sinclairvolkswagen.co.uk/Special-Offers...

If you're financing make sure you get a good guaranteed car value after the agreement is up.

I'd personally go for an Edition 30 as they are well priced and will sell quicker in the future.

Thanks for your input.

If you look at vw.com it's £20-22K for a zero miles manual with leather and £22-24K for leather, DSG an Nav (hardly any Manuals with Nav).

These are "Pack" cars which were pre-built. I was told all the 3-door, low-spec (cloth etc) cars have been sold which is where, I believe, the £17-19K price expectation comes from.

All "new" cars available seem to have leather and are 5 door versions. The DSG and Nav models are £30K list cars (originally) so I thought £22K was not a bad price.

I am going to negotiate hard...there finance offering was 12.6%!!!!

Doesn't mean you won't get a good price, read the R32 forum thread I posted above. People got bargains of around 18-19k brand new with leathers, DSG.

Yes it was brand new. At the time (early November) VW had 700 cars to play with and they wanted them gone asap.

confused Surprised that for £1,200 he could have got a lot better spec but still chose a bog standard one.
If I could live with the fuel bills I'd love one !

I think he's really stretched himself to buy the car he had to be honest. Plus he wasn't interested in silver.

I am hoping he'll want to shift it in a few years to me! It'll be babied all the time he owns it anyhow.

......58 plate 10 miles on clock. Pre-reg but as new.

I spoke to 8 dealers telling them I wanted to do a deal by the end of this week.

After telling them what I wanted spec-wise they went away to see what they could offer pricewise.

Guess how many called me back?...........2

No wonder the car market is fooked!!!

Now all you need to do is get to know your petrol attendant at your local Shell garage as you will be seeing a lot of them.

Welcome to the club and enjoy that V6 burble
