gearbox issues on the R8?

One of my mates just took delivery of his new R8 on sat after a 1.5 year wait and a lot of soul searching. He drove 200 miles before the gearbox packed in! He isn't terribly happy! Are there any issues with the gearboxes on these cars?
Apparently it wil take two weeks to get it back to him.
Any knowlege if there is an issue would be appreciated

Is it manual or R-tronic? I had a manual for a year and it was fine, no problems at all. In fact IMO it is one of the best manual boxes out there, better than recent porkers apart from maybe the latest short shift. I have 'heard' that the R-tronic boxes can be a bit of a b*gger but equally I know there are guys on here who will defend the R-box to the hilt!

Haven't heard of any reliability issues with either box so far :s

V unlucky as had only gone 200 miles!

Only problem we have seen is when customers over heat the clutch.

what is the complaint.?

i have had issues on the electronic solenoid valves on the gearbox itself.usually a no shift occurs.
