Audi A4 climate control /ventilation

My A4 cab had its 40k serice last week and since getting it back I've noticed something odd with the ventilation which didn't seem to exist beforehand.

What is happening is that when accelerating the sound of air rushing through the vents (predominantly the window one I think) can be heard with the volume corresponding directly to the rate of acceleration. This occours regardless of the fan being switched ON or OFF. Even when the fan is on and set to a high setting, the additional rush of air associated with accelerting overrides it.

It's bugging me as it makes driving along in silence impossible with every throttle movement illicting a woosh from the vent, even with the climate control switched off.

Can anybody shed some light on the matter? Thanks as always :-)

Pollen filter improperly fitted?

DR G, I was thinking along the same lines as the pollen filter was replaced in the service.

Verification of the above or other suggestions would appreciated!

Was the engine air filter replaced at the 40k service.

If it happens with the A/C etc. switched off, and there is a woosh with every move of the throlte, sounds like you are hearing the turbo or engine induction noises more than usual, which can happen if the air filter isnt in quite right.

I had to refit one the apprentice did on an A6 only the other day. Customer perception of where the noise is coming from isn't always where the noise is coming from. Our customer said his exhaust was noisy, you think its the air vent.

I would pop it back to who ever serviced it, and take the master tech for a quick drive up the road to demonstrate the fault.

Thanks guys as usual - much appreciated! Tame Technician, the air filter was indeed changed at 40k service. The car will be back later this week to have some warranty work completed so with luck I'll have the issue resolved then.

Not sure if this will help or even related (but worth a shot). I have a funny air whooshing sound from my aircon system (simialr to as you describe) and I have found it lessens/dissapears if I hit the 'air circulation' button on the dash (button on the left iirc, as the damn cars been in Audi for 2 months while they diagnose a fuel pressure problem, thank gawd I took out the extemded warranty!)
