I have been looking around and the S4 cab seems to be available for around 14k (as low as 12k sometimes), I have thought about a nice weekend car for 4 people (to carry friends too) and is it big enough?

I think if i get one the first thing will be an after market exhaust, I would like to go the whole hog and get the RS4 cab but the difference in price is an extra 20k which is not worth it at the moment as i would probably forgo the extra 2 seats and go for the SLK 55 AMG for that money at 25k or so.

Can anyone give me the running costs on the day to day running of such a car that will do about 6-10k a year and a few runs to europe?

First variable is 300, second variable is 464. Bank on 15-17k or 2 years between services.

Some people like to do an annual lube service to which is 165.

234/40/18 rubber, which last between 10 and 20k depending on your right foot. These wear fairly evenly, fronts go slightly sooner if you're very keen.

They do use oil so keep a litre of the correct stuff in the boot.

Auxilliary rads will go at some point and are @150 each from memory.

This was discussed in here quite recently I think (in and amongst RS4 discussion) but they're good, muscle bound cruiser type cars that make a lovely noise and still look good to my eye. Not the last word in dynamics or involvement but extremely capable if you don't mind a bit of scuttle shake on poor roads.
