mark 4 gti turbo engine management light on!!!!

looking for some advice. just sold the wifes gti to a very good friend and the engine management light has come on after 1 week after getting rid had the car from new and its never gave any trouble before.i have noticed maf sensors get mentined a lot could it be that simple?

Could be MAF/Lambda or any number of sensors..

Local inde should be able to pull the error codes via OBD and advise (or you could pick up an OBD reader and read them yourself..)

As said can be any number of things.

Get the code read and if you're lucky it will point to a specific component that has failed, if not you could end up with a chain of fault finding.

If you find someone with VAG COM, they could tell you.

My money would be on it being the very common temp sensor problem but only way to tell is VAG.COM

updated my profile. thanks for the advice spoke to local garage going to get it diagnostic checked on sat morning hopefully nothing serious!!!!
