Just received a 'Cam belt replacement' reminder from Audi for my A3 3.2.

I was under the impression that the 3.2L 'VR6' engine had a cam chain rather than a belt now if I'm wrong then fair enough I'll get it changed but if I'm right then it's a little worrying that Audi don't know this.... confused

The 3.2 engine doesn't have a cambelt, it does have a camchain though, but this is supposed to last the life of the car. Although after 100,000 miles they recommend you change as a precaution.

What mileage is your car?

As above, you're car has a camchain that does not need replaced. They just send these cards out based on mileage / time without any intelligence behind them.

Just ignore it :-)

Well I was 99.9% sure that it had a chain but I didn't make it, I only drive it.rolleyes

You would think that Audi would know this? Car's done 43k miles so I think the chain should be good for a while yet........

It'll be a standard mailer they've sent you smile

We once had a chap in insistent that we change the cam belt on his V8 S4.... I beleive the response was " if you can find it we'll change it for free" laugh
