Cupholder in a new A3???

Hi Everyone,

Just taken delivery of my wifes new A3 Sportback 2.0 Tdi S-line 170 and I don't seem to be able to find a cupholder.

Am I just being remarkably thick or does this model not have a cupholder?

Find the latter hard to believe!

I take it there isn't a conventional, typical German engineering, ingenious designed one anywhere in the dash then?

Double DIN stereos in an A3 (presumably Concert II on yours?) delete the dash mounted cup holder.

In the one I had as a courtesy car the in-dash cupholder was replaced with a really (un)useful change drawer, don't know if you could get a cup holder from the old type (like mine) and fit in place of it? - looks as if it might fit?

They all have double DIN stereos now, was one of the 2007 or 2008 changes.

I had a new A3 as a loan car whilst my old one was in having some work done.

I don't like the new layout at all - the various slots and storage compartments work for me in my car, and I love the cupholder. The new car just felt all back to front, with everything in the wrong place.

I think the workshop guy thought I was nuts when I told him I wouldn't buy one because the cup holder was rubbish! Don't even get me started on the fact it beeps at you when your passenger doesn't have their seatbelt on (and it was only my handbag on the seat setting the sensor off!!)
