Just choosing my new company car and now just have to choose between these two...any owners have any views as to which would be best..Cost not really an issue just want to make sure i get the right one out of the two...Both would be automatic....any views greatly appreciated.

If cost is not an issue go with the 3.0 TDI. I have the 2.7 TDI lower emissions etc but the monthly contract hire cost was a lot cheaper then the 3.0 at launch so was a deciding factor

The 3.0 TDi is a real stonker of an engine. Had both the A6 and A8 versions. I believe that the 2.7 is a bit wimpy but can be chipped or mapped up to 3.0 power.
The only way is to drive one of each. Fuel economy is broadly similar but I know which one I would go for.

I ran a 2.7tdi Auto A6 for 2 years and put over 60k on it from new, it lived on kick down all the time and would happily hit 150 mph on motorway run.

Nothing rediculous in terms of power, but in terms of saving money on tax you are far better with the 2.7 and getting a good solid remap in place of a more expensive, more thirsty 3.0.

Cracking engine!, very smooth far superior to the 2.0 but obviously not as quick as the 3.0

At the end of the day it depends what you want it for, mine was a work horse and 99% of the time I was on the hands free mobile when driving so you very rarely get the time to use the full potential of the car.

OR go stupid and get the 3.0tdi and get it chipped - It will be as quick as the S5, if not quicker!

I have 3.0tdi A6. Much preferred the engine toi the 2.7 and it still gets 42-44mpg on a run and averages 34-35. I am not sure the 2.7 is much better. The A6 is also a quattro, not sure if the A5 is a quattro in 2.7 guise, but the added security in the wet particularly is great.

There are many comments about the 2.7/3.0 debabte in a thread on here from a couple of weeks ago

Be careful with any TDI mate, I have heard if you start driving one your soul vanishes into a world surrounded by SLine badges, with demons surrounding them. Demons so boring, all they ever talk about is fuel economy and the joys of 'premium' brand driving.

But this soul less person has a Ginetta G33 V8 for fun, the 3.0tdi is a daily hack. And the Mrs has a Leon Cupra.

TDi doesnt nevessarily make you soul less, but it saves pennies for spending on exciting stuff bounce

I have the 3.0 TDI in a quattro. Third gear on turbo is a blast. Perfect for overtaking.
