Buying an RS6..
Discussion
Firstly - wow, f**k, double f**k, warp factor 10 etc.
As a proud new owner of a spanking RS6 I thought I'd drop a note on to say hello and to say a few words on my experiences.
Having owned various Audi's in the past from a A3 1.8T to an S8 I thought it was about time I got back in the club. Been running a diesel Honda for a couple of years as I was doing loads of miles but I'm not any more so I thought it time to get something a little more interesting! Having spoken to my Audi specialist Corey at quattronics (big thanks for all your help) I decided to go for the RS6 and set about finding the right one which didn't take long, found a good (52 reg) example which was for sale at Fontain in Mugello Blue, 72k, Black leather etc.
Being a firm believer in knowing what you're buying I dragged Corey along for the test drive to ensure everything was okay. On the test drive we did find a serious gear box fault to which the guys at Fontain had no hesitation in sorting and arranged initially for the original box to go off for re-con but I actually opted for a factory exchange unit in the end which I contributed towards but I believe was the better option in the long run.
Picked her up on Saturday and haven't put the keys down since - absolutely fantastic bit of kit!.. looking forward to working with Corey on getting the best out of her!..
Can't fault Fontain for getting everything sorted. I would say however that attention to detail is key to overall customer satisfaction so I was a little disappointed to find no radio code, sweet wrappers in the door pockets and a mess on the rear passenger door were the engineer had fixed a faulty windows switch among others when we picked her up. Little things I know in the overall scheme of things but they do tarnish the buying experience!
Anyway, looking forward to many years and miles of RS6 ownership and once again thanks to Corey at quattronics for his immense expertise and limitless enthusiasm and to Alex and Marus at Fontain all of whom I wouldn't hesitate to recommend..

Stunning cars i am sure you will not be disappointed!
A colleague had one for a number of years the only issue he saw in 60k of motoring was suspension issues.
One word of caution, I would advise you to pop onto S2forum, quattroforum and type quattronics into the search facility. Then make a decision.

It's now getting the 2nd achilles heal of the RS6 upgraded too - your suspension should be there in the morning
Do you want the photos we had up on the web?
Thanks Alex.. just to update the forum Corey also found that the DRC was faulty and we're replacing with H&R's.. again thanks Alex for a swift resolution..Do you want the photos we had up on the web?
Alex if I recall you didn't have any photos?!..

Generally every dealership / specialist has good experiences and bad experiences and I agree anyone should do their homework and make their own decisions. The forums are a great tool for this and I would urge anyone thinking of buying a specialist car such as the RS6 to do their own homework for general ownership issues and to ensure they are comfortable in the skills of their chosen dealer / specialist who will maintain it for them.Form my point of view I have known Corey for many years and he has looked after several of my cars without issue so I can only go from personal experience.
Hi, Just thought I would say really nice car and I bet you are please as punch with it.
What colour combination is the interior?
Is it standard?
Do you have any plans to improve (if it can be improved) it?
I am from the Nottinghamshire area and need a specialist to look at a couple of problems I have, I'll have to pop over to see the guys you mention and make my own judgement.
There appears to be a couple of keyboard terrorists here, shame as it looks a nice place.
Anyway back to your RS6, did I say it is really nice?

If you are happy with the service stick with what you know. I had a poverty C5 avant 1.8T spec, its a really practical family car, does everything well. In RS6 guise its an awesomely practical car! Bet your pleased as punch, get so much for your money in the current market its a magic piece of kit.
Was just offering an some advise/opinion based on readings and experiences with 7 years of various quattro ownerships, we all have different experiences was merely sharing my own, you made a decision that's fine leave it there. A terorist, scary!

Ye I'm really pleased with it, I honestly don't think there is a better all round car. Combines rocket like performance, build quality, comfort, practicality and all wrapped up in a neat stylish subtle package?!..
Need to give it a good clean and find a nice location to take some snaps, another excuse to drive aimlessly around the country side then
Having the windows tinted next week to give it a bit more of a stern look and am thinking about having the wheels done in a gun metal colour which I think looks great with the blue.
Should be getting a REVO remap sorted shortly to improve the economy figures - honest!..

If you have kids/dogs/valuable stuff to carry around privacy glass really is a godsend! I tried with OEM blinds, sticky on ones all sorts and they never seemed to do the job. Privacy glass solves it all and looks great, a bit bling but sod it suits an avant, leaving the front and windscreen? Only been for one run in an C5 RS6, the acceleration is just relentless, one of those bloody hell is it ever going to ease off cars... the subtlety does it for me, its not a shouty car, very envious.. enjoy... and oh get some nice pictures taken in some part of the countryside!
oh, forgot to ask it is an RS6 or an RS6+? like asking if its galactic or intergalactic!

Will you SOBs please shut the hell up? I've spent the last few years preaching the gospel according to the (E39) M5 but reading this thread takes me back to a number of injudicious test drives a couple of years ago since when I've still not quite figured out how the hell I'm not commuting in one right now!
Have you seent he prices for RS6's at present, a lot of car for not a lot of money.
Just need to make sure the suspension and gearbox are ok as I wouldn't want to ruin the budget for upgrades!!!
Spoke to quattronics yesterday, nice guys who seem to know their stuff, going to pop across to see them and discuss RS6 options

Think you've answered your own question there - get it sorted.. I wouldn’t advise just an engine remap on these cars, the gearbox will suffer from "hunting" gears which causes wear and tear and like the drc these boxes aren’t the strongest and most reliable part of the car. Get to a reputable tuner such MRC, QST, or Grizz at Unit 20 (RS6 specialists) and go for a gearbox map as well, this will make the car far more driveable with a engine remap

What a morning!!! I need to go find myself an RS6.
Corey from quattronics took me out in their REVO'd RS6, if I can quote Nekrum's first comment "wow, f**k, double f**k, warp factor 10" but make that warp factor 15!!!
The car is running no gearbox map at present and does not hunt up and down at all, Corey said that he is thinking of producing a gearbox map to compliment the REVO software as his only complaint on the gearbox is it's inability to go into 4th or 5th below 40mph when in Sport of paddle mode but other than that he cannot complain about the gearbox.
I am now convinced that I want (no, need!!!) an RS6...
Nekrum my accountant is not going to like you at all!!!
