Which A6 Avant ?????????????????
Discussion
Gents Ive put My A4 avant up for sale as I need a larger car. Im looking at Audi A6 Avants . I would appreciate any input on the 2.7 and 3.0 diesels As Im concerned that the 2.0 diesel will be a bit underpowered ???! Also My outgoing A4 Avant is an S line with the firmer suspension And Im wondering if the A6 S line is as hard a ride as the A4 is ? Im drawn towards the 3.0 Le Mans spec cars but Im just a bit worried about the ride quality ??. Will it be as stiff as an A4 or a little softer as the A6 is a fair bit bigger and heavier ? Thanks !! ..........................:thumb:
Am I expected to say something?
I have an A6 Le Mans 3.0 tdi quattro tiptronic. IMO the 3.0 is a much better engine than the 2.7 and mine still makes 42 mpg on a long run and is averaging 35 around town etc (as long as the engine gets chance to warm up. The 2.7 felt less tractable to me, and many of them are not quattros. I do like performance though
Quattro is great in the wet, especially wet motorways, Le Mans spec is good but the 19" 255/35 tyres are not cheap (decent ones are £200 each online and you have to replace all 4 together, kwik fit are £1200 for 4). The S line suspension is hard and on the crap roads in cheltenham you feel every bump, not helped by 35 profile tyres. On smooth roads its no problem and the handling is better with the s line setup which also has less body roll. If you want a limo ride, forget s line and buy an A8. If you want a large (and it is big) sports saloon/estate then get S line.
I haven't tried an A6 with air suspension but reviews are mixed. I would say try and drive both s-line and standard setups and see which you like.

Thanks for the replies ! It would seem the Le Mans on 19 inch wheels with those very low profile tyres May not be for Me I was kinda hoping the ride on the S line model would be a bit better than the S line A4 by virtue of of bieng a larger car ! I have to do a few trips up and down to Scotland And find My current A 4 Avant just a little tiring !

I'd go for a long test drive. My car gets some similar usage and on the motorway its not an issue, but around potholed towns you can feel every bump.... ive started steering around them lol oh and dont test drive the 3.0.... otherwise you might just buy it anyway lol
