Tiptronic - were can I get more details on how it works?
Discussion
On this subject, I hate the way my A8 tends to change into 4th as soon as you remain at a steady 30mph around town. Does it upset the gearbox at all to be driven around in "3" rather than Drive? It makes for a much more relaxing experience and the engine's hardly ticking over anyway.

Thanks. I am pretty sure it does back to Auto when in D mode sooner than 1 minute, although I have heard S takes longer. What I don't understand is why the throttle response in Tip mode is the same as D, and only S mode makes it sharper. Why isn't there a Tip mode with the throttle response of S?Sport - paddles give you temporary manual control, it will drop back to drive I think 1 minute after you stop using the paddles.
