I am going to put in an offer of £11k for the following:

2005 S Line Avant 2.0L 140 bhp excellent condtion for year both inside and out,one private owner, 82000 miles with cambelt changed, all nearly new tyres, full main dealer history, leather trim otherwise standard specifacation.

Does £11k sound about right, it's up with a dealer for £11850.

If you have no px and cash in place , scan the autotrader and other classifieds you'll get much better for your budget with less miles.

I think they will bite your hand off with that price, I'd have offered that 3 years ago before the st hit the fan. I guess more like £9500 to start and settle on £10k

I read that as what the dealer would pay the the main dealership to take off thier hands a part ex vehicle to re sell it plus their margins.

I reckon they will tell you to sod off if you offer £11k. Quality used stock is in short supply and dealers are fighting over it and paying top money at the auctions. This means reduced margins and thus ability to move on price is difficult. See some of V8Mates auction reports in General Gassing if you don't believe me.

That car is £10k max, if fully loaded. I looked at the dealer network for weeks and in the end bought something private for £13k that would not have left an Audi forecourt for less than £17k.

Full history is important and ideally less than 60k miles. You can then buy a Tesco 'Finest' warranty which is way better than the Audi extended warranty.

If dealers are struggling to find stock, its only because of the trade in prices they are offering. That said, all friends in the trade are reporting that prices are heading north and specialist cars are really climbing back up.

CAP Valuation (assuming its a 55-plate Manual, you havent given us anywhere near enough info on the car!)

Nearest mileage available 82,000

Price when new £23,490

Retail value
Garage/retailer's selling price £11,395

Trade-in values
Clean Condition £8,950
Average Condition £8,075
Below Average Condition £7,225

If you add a little on for the leather seats (which unlike a lot of extras, these add value to the car) the price from Audi is about right.

The car is for sale through a specialist dealer not a main audi dealer.

Why are you providing a link to an auction report from January?

Prices have risen sharply since then.

For common or garden Audis, 'sharply' is not the word I would chose, but yes they have risen since Jan.
