How are the brakes holding up on your Cupra
Sadly not, as the car needs to be clean and shiney for Friday - I received an email from EVO magasine who wish to take pictures of my car

Are you chaps local to Snet? Do you happen to know the 2 guys that were driving GT3s that day?

Strange you should mention the brakes - they are now 2-piece 330mm rotors with ds2500 pads (still using the standard brembo 4-pots) but with uprated fluid + ducting! They survived 11 laps of punishment around the Nurburgring - however on arrival at Dunkirk one of my pads disintegrated! (cheap Mintex pads on at the time!)

I'll have to pass that brake information on to my friend who had that silver Cupra R - I'm not sure if you remember him, but he came to spectate. Are you chaps local to Snet? Do you happen to know the 2 guys that were driving GT3s that day?
Yup, we're only 20 minutes from the track
Was that the yellow GT3 and the orange GT3 RS? They were astonishing cars, but I never had the opportunity to chat with the owners

Great topic and very encouraging. I'm looking for one of these preferably black avant too but it depends on what comes up once I sell my 335i.
Many thanks for the feedback Looking for a black Avant? I know it's the part exchange route, but what about this example at an Audi Dealer?

DRC does unfortunately seem to list Dairy Milk as one of its major components, which is unfortunate as it's bloody good in the RS4 when on song. I don't know why it fails or what Audi will do about it in the long term.
my dealer blamed poor UK roads, certainly in London where I am based, not too worried as I have the 5 year warranty letter from Mr Audi UK.My costs since ownership in March 07, from new now has 15k miles:
3 litres of top up oil £56
APS remap £400
2 annual services and parts, plus new set of tyres all round - 30 months x £18 so £540 (gotta love Audi FCM plan)
Insurance about £700pa
plus car tax and fuel (don't check mpg ever)
It has been a great car so far, thinking of selling now but hard to think of a replacement that ticks as many boxes
MORE RECENT COSTS
I've purchased my 12 months Tax at £400.
I purchased some more oil. Three litres cost £45 at Audi (bought from there for ease, as I was close by). I top up with just under 2 litres, so have one spare.
I popped to Audi for them to check strange clicking noise coming from the front of the car last night.
Unfortunately the noise ceased this morning, before I got to the dealer.
The check cost £86.25, but I'm not going too concerned about price vs. safety!
Nothing wrong was found, although I've also been told that I'll be requiring new discs before too long. I've been told these, plus pads, will be around the £1,000. Hopefully, I can get away with discs only, though - or will they replace pads as a matter of course?
Also, I'm about to enjoy the car even more, with a trip to Switzerland ( for a PistonHeads Run organised by my brother), the Black Forest in Southern Germany and the Nurburgring, !

My RS4 didn't put a foot wrong in a year of ownership. Fantastic car.
Yes there are known DRC issues but i think you have to rememebr that you always hear about the cases when things go wrong and not when nothing does, these people also tend to shout the loudest.
At the end of the day the RS4 is a mass produced automobile from an incredibly well established and reliable manufacturer, yes things do go wrong but statistically these are rare.

Interesting thread - I took delivery of this lovely RS4 Avant last week after my wife wrote off my BMW 535D. It certainly is bringing a smile to my face every time I press the start button and even more when my wife tells me I have made a sensible choice of car! I will be getting to know the local Shell garage rather better than before though.

If you all get stuck for oil ... I have loads .. Castrol one litres and 4l Titan GT1. I also have a few Wynns cleaners DIP3.. and last by not least complete Spare wheel and tyre minus the TPS.
I could do with a litre, are you selling them? Post might cost though as I am not local to youdarren, did you mean to write "I put 2 litres in and I'm left with 1 litre"?
Just seems a bit scary to leave it till you need to put 2 litres in. I appreciate they hold 9 litres, but when mine (S4, not RS4) is getting low on the stick, I can normally get it back to mid mark with around 300 ml.
You must be off the stick when you have to put 2 litres in?
Great car by the way, saw you in it a couple of weeks ago at the bottom of Grapes hill going round Halfords roundabout early one morning.

Many thanks for the continued kind remarks. I'll try to update this every now and again with more costs, if you guys would find it helpful
I was mid-way through an Airport run to Gatwick when the light came on, saying I needed to top up. The oil level wasn't off the bottom, although it was dead on the minimum.
And yup, just under 2 litres went in to top it up to maximum, and I've made sure I've got one litre spare

MANY MANY thanks for that Miles - they are superb photos!
I'll be showing that link to my brother and Dad
Yup, we had also hired the old M3 track-prepped car for the day - now that was a fantastic track weapon; insanely grippy through the corners!

Most people on here speak as they find. I agree that some posters write with a little too much emotion however, that works both ways! At the end of the day if it wasn't for the owners who shouted, Audi would not have extended the warranty period to 5 years on DRC components.Thorny said:

Personally, I ignore the marketing hype about reliability etc from motor manufacturers.Edited by David911RSR on Tuesday 29th September 19:33
It's not including insurance, and I'm fairly certain the car hasn't depreciated a penny when comparing my example to those f=currently for sale
I don't find the prices bad compared to that I was paying my old Merc - unfortunately a fair bit seemed to go wrong.
Also for something that has genuine sports car performance, it doesn't seem bad at all
