'Quattro' -vs- 'S-Line'

Obviously, Quattro features on the R8, and it actually means something other than just a trim level.

If you get an S-Line Quattro (A3, A4) etc, which badge goes on the grille?

Not that it really matters, just a general wondering really

Surely S and RS trump Quattro?

Absolutely - (at least I'm 99% sure) - but I don't think they have quattro badges on them (at least exterior)?

Actually, my S4 has a quattro badge above the glovebox

But then you get into engine size top trumps too. It annoys me that a 1.8t S-Line looks identical to the 3.2 V6 S-Line.

I have an S-Line Quattro. S Line on the front grille, Quattro on the boot lid.

Quattro is a mechanical spec, S Line is a fit out spec and neither are dependant on the other.

Cheers. Which car?

Yes, thanks, I knew that. Just wondered which Audi deemed to be the more important factor when selecting which badge to attach to the grille.

(Thank heavens for PH - the only place where you could ask such a question and, not just get a sensible answer, but also not be ridiculed for wondering something so geeky/nerdy)

I'd imagine in the world of normal people (and by that I mean your average driver that doesn't care much for car ride/handling) then it would have to be the S-line, because that gives the better looking car, if you see what I mean?

From the days before Audi thought trim levels were more important than technology, I have rear window demister elements which trace out the word "quattro".

quattro... provided it is one!

they dont put SE badges in replacement for missing sline ones. I have quattro in the rear demister as well, incase a forget.

I am developing a bit of a hatred for the insane amount of badges on UK cars

Why?

I think the S-Line versions always look better than the non S-line equivalents.

S-Line means nothing. just a load of extra tat stuck on the car.

Quattro actually means something, unless it's on an A3 at which point it should be a 4-motion badge.

Because the suspension is utterly ste. Oversprung and under-damped.

Chavline would be equally appropriate.
