'56 plate Audi S8 - V10, do they exist?
Discussion
Morning all
Last night around Gatwick airport I saw an Audi S8 - '56 plate, twin dual exhausts, V10 badge underneath the side repeaters. It looked, frankly, amazing.
However, I didn't think they did a full on S8 at that age? I'm sure they did a W12 version, and I recall them using an iteration of the Lambo V10 unit in the gallardo, but didn't realise they called it an S8?
Nevertheless, it looked absoutely perfect
So, does it exist, or was it a V10 A8 with a badge?

They certainly exist.
One in my garage now to prove it
As Mr H states though, not the most economical thing to run around in. Just glad I don't do as many miles as I used to, otherwise it would have to go.
Came to mine from an E55 AMG and, whilst it's probably not as quick, it can certainly pick it's feet up when pressed. Also a very comfortable drive, and more relaxing than the Merc.
Lots of useless toys, though incredible traction (Quattro) and brakes (ceramic)

One of the mags said the V10 S6's were dull as st. I can't quite see how a V10 anything can be "dull".
Nah.................they didn't know how to drive it!Edited by Hereward on Thursday 8th October 19:31
Have come across loads of people who can't drive 'em, V6's,V8's etc
Their excuse is usually "don't like it" meaning they can't handle the torque lol

Excellent choice, sir
Must admit I thought it looked unbelievably good - and I've had a quick browse in the classifieds - the interiors look great and I dont think I've ever seen that many buttons
Thank you for that.Must admit I thought it looked unbelievably good - and I've had a quick browse in the classifieds - the interiors look great and I dont think I've ever seen that many buttons
Incredible finish inside, and to see it at night is something else. Just the right amount of subtlety before becoming tacky. Even the + & - signs on the flappies are lit in a lovely red glow (As are the wheels on the dash air vents)

Agree the interiors look great ( as you would expect),,next time you see one, if you can take your eyes off if the wheels, check the brakes and callipers out, the carbon/ceramic discs are huge, really sets it apart in the sector, as far as I can see anyhow.
15" on the front, huge callipers to match, though a very expensive extra (c 6k) Certainly work though, and help to keep the wheels free of brake dust.Hereward said:

Certainly not dull. Not *in your face* like an AMG, though possibly not as refined as an S Class? As nail_it states, drive it as it's supposed to be driven, and you got a very nice motor.
My main thing at the moment is the sweeping bends on M Way exits, the ones with the *Caution, Max Speed X mph* Tending to treat them as a challenge, and trying to double their suggestions... Should know better at my age
I was so undecided what to get (had the Merc for three years, and a couple of others before it).
Looked at Quattroporte (loved it, and still may bite, though servicing was an issue as no dealers by me) C63 (too small body-wise) E63 (same as I just got rid of) and the XF Jaguar (lovely car, though just didn't do it for me personally)
Going to stand by this one. Took it to my local dealer for a service and a couple of warranty issues, and they've been brilliant so far. Bearing in mind I've come from Mercedes, I'd highly recommend Audi at Bolton.
I'll do a write up after another few thousand miles, though at the moment, just want to enjoy it. Probably the last car I'll buy for an awful long time. (Unless it starts to bore me, though I can't see that yet.) Still make me smile in the morning.
