3.0TDi - Smoking problem?

Exactly the same symptoms as I am getting. Apparently the injectors don't always seal properly and dribble excess fuel in at idle and the white smoke is the excess fuel being burnt off. The clouds of smoke are very embarrassing at times. Does not happen all the time thank goodness.
I assume the difficulty is isolating which injector is at fault and the strip down procedure will be the same if you are replacing 6 injectors or only one.
True, but when I took my car in to get looked at, they could tell me that 3 of the 6 were out of calibration, with 1 being the worst, if they can tell that, then I would think they could pinpoint them?I assume the difficulty is isolating which injector is at fault and the strip down procedure will be the same if you are replacing 6 injectors or only one.
If not then how does the A6 exhaust system work, do both banks go to a common manifold? Or are they separated all the way to the back? If only 1 side was smoking, then that would give an indication of what group of injector(s) are leaking? Of course if it's a common manifold/middle section, then that theory is wrong!
I noticed this posting regarding faulty injectors on your Audi A6. I have a 2006 A6 3.0 tdi and have had a similar experience to you with white smoke. A faulty injector had been diagnosed by my local main dealer but they are recommending that all six are replaced at over £4000 ! Luckily Audi UK are prepared to pay 70% towards the cost as it has had main dealer service all the way. It does seem like they are aware of the problem. I noticed that you wrote that you had discovered that there was a batch of faulty injectors used at this time. Can you let me have any more information on that please? If they were faulty when fitted then I'll push for Audi UK to pay for the lot. Does anyone else have any information about faulty injectors being used at this time on this engine? My car is March 2006.
Many thanks for all your help.

70% off £4000 is £1200, which is what I paid, however I was quoted the full price of £2500.
I got mine done at a skoda dealership that used to be an audi dealership. Might explain the difference.
Another tip is get your old injectors back, and tell them to mark the good ones, they still fetch a pretty penny on ebay.

I have a similar problem but more difficult i think
The motor is BMk 3.0tdi
The problem is the white smoke . (white smoke from the start )
I went to the Audi workshop and said that 2 injectors are out of standard values.
Then i changed both number 1 and 4 (note : the new injectors are Remanufactured) notice that the smoke stopped at the start , but when i accelarate hard i see some smoke for a while .
note : the new injectors are Remanufactured
Last week the problem was again and more worse on traffic lights before i get the normal temperature.
Right know the car is again on Audi workshop and have another set of injectors but said the problem exists .
before the white smoke i already changed oils , egr , flapers and cleaned intake, no coolant losses i notice .
thank you
