B8 S4 Ownership

Looking at those pictures reminds me of a question I've meant to ask for a while - The US has an option to replace the V6T badges with the supercharged badges from the A6; was this available in the UK?
I replaced mine myself as I disliked the V6T badges, but it was cheaper to order them afterwards that it was to get the dealer to do it. Plus I could then get the carbon fiber ones...
There was also another option I've never seen a UK car with - the silver 'rocker panel side blades' in place of the body colour items. Again popular in the US (though I'm not a fan); another US only item?

My new ride ...
Had it a month now and very pleased. Love the sound when you put your foot down to overtake.
Only downside is the fuel it drinks.
I see regular oil top ups are likely, what oil should I get please?
Looks amazing. So much classier than the ubiquitous white and black wheels combo. Had it a month now and very pleased. Love the sound when you put your foot down to overtake.

Anyone have any experience of removing silencers etc as a quick way to get some more aural pleasure during normal driving as opposed to only when the foot is down?
I would be interested in knowing this too as I would consider getting replacement back boxes with oval pipes if they deepened the note and I prefer the look of the ovals but a full cat back is too dear for no notable performance gain IMO.Dr G said:
Cutting up stock exhausts often ends up making quite a harsh, raspy sound (although I've not heard it done to a B8 S4 specifically).
We put RS4 tips on the standard system for this guy:
Glad to hear your professional opinion, really don't want to end up with a raspy note. I assume changing just the tips would make no difference to tone of exhaust? We put RS4 tips on the standard system for this guy:
Little update from me:
New clutch and flywheel are still performing perfectly, on to the next problem... Starting to use abit more oil than I would like, 55k mile service is due shortly so will replace the PCV valve. Does anyone want me to post up pictures of the supercharger removal? I will also have a look at intake valves, also do you think it's worth changing the thermostat whist there? one last thing one of the headlamp washers started to get stuck half out, sorted by fully extending and spraying with silicone spray then working back and forth.

Sounds interesting! I seem to recall talking to someone who suggested the supercharger oil can only be changed with it off the car, as it needs to be inverted to do it. Plus needs a syringe to accurately measure the oil required. I know its supposed to be the old nugget of 'sealed for life' but if you're going to pull it anyway it might be worth a look?

Good point Adrian, I was also thinking of this! It's available from Audi in a 150ml bottle, so will add to the list along with a new supercharger belt (supposed to be changed at 75k anyway). Expensive year so far, also needs new summer tyres (going for Michelin Super sports)...I've been trying to get super sports for our 20s and struggling. Only stock is in Germany or Poland but of indeterminate age!
Michelin uk have told me mid-late March for uk stock but their allocation may go straight out to fulfil existing orders. If you're on 18-19" you might have more luck?
