Got a problem with receiving calls on my Bluetooth. I click "accept call" and it looks like it has connected but after 2 or 3 seconds it disconnects. Does it every time without fail, and is (obviously) very annoying.

Making calls is absolutely fine.

I can only find 1 reference to it on a search (maybe I am no good at Googling), which seems to suggest that there is an issue with Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2, which is what I have, but offers no solution.

I guess I could try it with my wife's iphone instead, but wondered if anyone had come across a similar problem (and a resolution)? Even if it works with the iphone, it doesn't help me with my phone, but at least eliminates a problem with the MMI.

My car is going to the dealers on Friday for a service, and I could get them to take a look, but I guess if it is phone specific (ie. Android 4.1.2) then they will just say "no fault found, £60 for investigation fee please sir".

So if anyone has come across this before let me know.

I've not had that issue, but I have had issues with Bluetooth A2DP that have been android version specific; choppy playback, incomplete control of the bluetooth player.

The obvious question to ask is 'can you upgrade the device?'.

I've no suggestions apart from that, I'm afraid.

can't say I have had that problem, the only one I have encountered is over incompatible entries within Gmail contacts lists.

I have used all versions of Android including 4.1.2

Only think I can think to help is clear out *all* the tethered phones and then re-connect them, I have had issues with corruption when adding new phones.

Thanks all. I've tried updating, but it says there isn't an update available, even though I know there is a Jelly Bean 4.2.x (perhaps not available to my ancient Galaxy S2 though).

Mine is the only phone paired, but I could try unpairing it and starting again to see if it makes any difference (I suppose the equivalent of turning off your PC and turning if off again – the tried and tested IT manual Step 1 approach). That does of course mean I have to remember the PIN for pairing!! (probably 1234 or 1111)

I mean the PIN for the Bluetooth unit – they usually default to 1234 or 1111 (and yes you can probably change it). Can't remember if I had to do it this time, or maybe this is just my old Parrot units I am thinking of.

Depends on the year of your car and firmware version - there may be an update available for the car that will overcome the issue

I've done firmware updates myself on our 2011 model

MMI prompts you at the time?

Interesting. How do you do it yourself? (mine is Jul10 reg).

Can recommend a company in Northolt that do a truly superb job.

Down you way Lepsons have a good name but I've not used them myself:

There are 4 sets of firmware updates which you need to download from somewhere. You then put each in turn onto an SD card, having removed all media devices from AMI/MMI and disconnected any bluetooth devices. You have to stick it in engineering mode (2 button press on MMI) and run each set of updates. Takes about an hour to do the lot (our 2011 model only needed updates 3 and 4) but best to check it doesn't need the earlier ones as you can brick it by missing some.

If that doesn't frighten you into not doing it, I can provide info in more detail including links for downloading the firmware updates - just message me smile

Ouch! Thanks Adrian, but I think I am well and truly scared by that, and I have no doubt I would fk it up big time (thereby probably rendering the whole MMI useless).

Does the dealer offer Firmware updates? If so, is it "yes sir, of course sir, that will be eleventy million gazillion pounds please"?!

mmm... it is Android (or my phone) that is the problem. My wife's iphone works fine. Strange - don't understand confused

Will try unpairing my phone later and resynching it, see if it makes a difference. But 2nd half of football starting so not tried yet!

If you say you have connectivity issues via bluetooth they're likely to apply a firmware fix - might be on goodwill but depends if the car goes to the dealer for servicing I suspect. They don't like applying them because of the time taken and the risk of bricking it (which is very small)

The firmware updates are:

1. 0031
2. 0206
3. 0253
4. 0257

Ours was on 0206 before updating. I'm near Gatwick airport and happy to do it if you're local. I have all the files smile

Yes it's there for servicing, so will see if I can wing a firmware fix - I can only ask!

Very kind to offer, but nowhere near Gatwick I'm afraid (Midlands).

Update from me... I undertook the big 55k service last weekend, air filter, spark plugs, oil and oil filter. I was also looking for a very slight coolant leak and think I have found it! Whilst moving the expansion tank about changing the spark plugs I noticed it had been leaking from the cap, I think the cap is faulty and will replace and update. One weird thing I did find was a load of what looked like white grease spattered inside the air filter element? Never seen anything like it before!

Yes, Lepson is very close, so I will see what they say.

Im a little worried if there is a limit for how many times they can be refurbed, as they have a cut/ polished rim.

There is but as long as there are no chunks taken out of them the diamond cutting process removes a very, very small amount of metal.

When you get them back give them a couple of good coats of polish/sealant. Will make cleaning them easier and if you keep brake dust off them they'll last for years.
