Oh so I m not alone with the car suggestingy faulty right rear lights and in fact nothing wrong
No there is something wrong, indicator doesnt work, but the bulb is fine. So something else (electrical connection?) doesn't work.As an aside, it's interesting driving the car without a rear left indicator. You become acutely aware of not being able to indicate left, and I've found myself diverting my route to avoid left turns / always staying in the left lane, etc.
I should post up a list of work I've had done in the past 15 months - might make for interesting (read as shocking!!) reading!!!
Funny since the service where they investigate this problem and found no fault , the problem has gone ! But they did land up having the car for 2 days so I suspect they were economical with the truth.
No further incidents With the dash and radio staying fully active after leaving the car and locking the doors .
Stop start still faulty

I'm struggling to find a sensible spec / good quality B8 S4. I've seen some dogs around. Drove one today: 2 owners, 09 with 72.5k, S-tronic, 3G - nav, B&O, parking front and back, serviced 800 miles ago, folding rear seats, black leather / aniline interior, no adaptive stuff though, good matching tyres, no scuffs on the wheels, underside looked clean and complete, engine bay clean. Price £16.7k which would get me 2yrs RAC warranty.
Does that seem reasonable?
But I'm more tempted maybe by the S3 here: http://www.redlinespecialistcars.co.uk/used-cars/a...

Dr_Rick, Personally I'd hold out for an S4, for less than £500 more than the S3 I bought my 60 plate S4 (4 weeks ago, from Oxford Audi) with nearly all the toys (no adaptive cruise or keyless entry, no sports diff - but full ADS otherwise, black with black pack, heated SS seats with memory, 57000 miles, S-Tronic, 3G HDD MMI with nav, 19" wheels, FASH, 12 months warranty and breakdown, etc. Delivered to Aberdeen with a full tank of petrol and updated nav/MMI too). I had been looking for about 2 months before I found one that ticked almost all my boxes though. Apparently good ones are becoming rare though, hence buying from Oxford when I'm in Aberdeen - haha!Does that seem reasonable?

Even then though, it’s had its issues, like being delayed over 2 weeks, Audi's painter refurbing the wheels with a can of spray paint, them losing a key, some trim not put back together properly, broke LED's on the tail lights, and air-con needing re-gassed - but that's not been the cars fault. To be fair to Oxford Audi, they've done what they can to resolve the issues. They've paid for a new key today, hopefully they'll pay for the re-gass - as Aberdeen think it should have been done under the approved cycle - and they're paying for the alloys to be refurbed tomorrow. Aberdeen Audi have been ace too, they've sorted everything out with no fuss at all under the warranty. I just expected more from an Audi dealer like Oxford.
Anyways, I went off topic there, so yeah - test drive both, but if you like the S4, hold out - good examples do exist.
I found mine on Audi's website, and put a deposit on it like a day after it went on, so you'll need to be fast. Aberdeen Audi said good examples sit on their forecourt for less than 24 hours...
Hi guys,
Attacked the pipes for a bit today, this is how bad they were...
Tried bug & tar remover with a wheel brush, autosol, 0000 steel wool, even toothpaste..... Managed to get them better (below is the best pipe) but there are some black bits which really won't come off, I need something to soak and break the stubbon bits down, any ideas?
Here is the car, still work in progress as I need to give it a deep clean with clay, polish and wax, only problem is I'm ALWAYS in the sun where I wash it!

Have you looked at taking the tips off?
I believe you can, then maybe you can work the wire wool on them better, or even use a rotary buff, that won't damage the finish.
I can also recommend Britemax Metal Twins for the final stage.
Nice work so far though - they looked in a pretty bad state!

I gave up looking 18 months ago as I thought S4 were over priced. But I'm more tempted maybe by the S3 here: http://www.redlinespecialistcars.co.uk/used-cars/a...
I replaced a B6 V8 S4 with a S3 sportback DSG as I'd given up finding a decent priced/conditionB8 S4. The S3 was a great, fast and fun car. I had it Revo'd the day I bought it.
Trouble is, it just lacked the more grown up feel of the S4 I'd had previously. The S3 was superb fun, but it made me drive it like a loon every time I got in it. I made a conscious decision to sell the car before I lost my licence (something I never thought I'd say at 44 years of age and 27 years of driving). I then bought something completely different, a Discovery 4 of all things, but it's pleased me in different ways.
I'm still looking at B8's but I'd not go back to an S3, it's just not grown up enough for me, or rather I'm not grown up enough for it.
The S4 V6 would be a great all rounder and would tick many boxes, just like my B6 did I reckon.
So, given I'm throwing 15k a year at the car with most of it being motorway I decided to stick to my guns for a longer wheelbase car, i.e. the S4. I also decided that on the basis of budget (i.e. I need to put some money into the house) that I would prioritise interior comfort over bells n whistles.
The upshot, early next week I'm taking on an '09, 72k S4 S-Tronic with black / aniline sports seats, 3G-MMI, Parking Plus, B&O in Brilliant Red with dark chrome wheels. Full service history, getting a gearbox service, MOT and service (800miles ago and recent) for mid teens ££ wise. No fancy suspension bits, but I'll live with that.
Already considering some aesthetic mods (RS4 grille because I like it but it will be badged correctly and tints because the kids in the back could do with sun protection), and possibly a trip to a RevoTechnik dealer near me to poke it with a stick.

Anyone used anything like this? http://www.halfords.com/cycling/accessories/rear-m...
A lot cheaper than buying Thule bars and 3x bike carriers, but don't know if they're any good?
