Chaps, if you look in MMI at the car setup, there's a section for number of key fobs programmed to the car. What's the standard number of keys that should be in there from the factory, mine says 3?
As well as the two main keys I do have a hollow plastic key which looks as though it should have something slide inside which I'm guessing is a valet/spare manual key of some sort? If so then I'm missing the middle bit, is this the third key I'm seeing programmed in or is that purely a mechanical key for the doors and there's another full electronic key somewhere that's perhaps been lost and replaced?

You should have 2 remotes, plus the plastic key holder which should live in a slot on the side of the glovebox. What should not be in there is a plastic key, cut for the door locks, that also has an immo chip in it. When you insert it in the plastic holder from the glovebox it slots into the ignition and allows the car to start.
If you have 3 keys programmed but can't trace the missing plastic one, you can get Audi to order you a new plastic key and when they programme it to the car it will remove the missing key. Had to do the same with ours, which was also missing the holder! Key part number is 8k0837216inf and will be cut to your car in Germany before shipping. Cost is £43.41+vat
Garage will bill you half an hour labour to code the keys, unless you can convince them to do it for goodwill. If you bought the car from a main dealer I'd be tempted to try and get them to cover the cost since it should've been supplied with the car, or at the very least the missing key should've been removed from memory!
On the subject of exhaust tips, I've tried 0000 steel wool, autosol metal polish too and its just not enough to get all the black bits off, I cannot scrub hard when the tips are surround so much - but I cannot see how they come off.
I even tried Nail vanish remover this weekend, might have helped a bit but I feel it would take a week of cleaning at this rate! Someone has suggested some kit you connect to a drill, was about £25 but might be my last hope.

That's why I lined the bumper trim with masking tape to protect it - mine were pitch black before I started. The tips are crimped in place by the looks of it - some well positioned force around the crimps might open them up enough to remove them, but at £70+ each to replace they'd have to be pretty bad to be worth going to that extreme as I'm not sure they'll crimp back on any easier than getting them off.I even tried Nail vanish remover this weekend, might have helped a bit but I feel it would take a week of cleaning at this rate! You need to be quite liberal with the polish and finish off with a microfiber to buff the finish up
Excuse the week's worth of grime - popped out and took this just now
The scratches don't look as bad as in the pic - the flash has picked them out so they look more obvious than they are
Problem is I have some black spots which are proving VERY stubborn indeed, something is required to break them down, maybe brake cleaner, oven cleaner or something. No amount of scrubbing with 0000 steel wool//metal polish etc is going to remove it, well maybe if I spent a week on it!

Most exciting post of the day...
Found a little webbed pouch at the top (inside) of the glove box (ie, attached to the roof of the glove box). Nothing in it, just intrigued what it's for?!
Pretty sure it's for your ipod/media player. The clip is useful for holding proof of insurance/registration docs and a pen.Found a little webbed pouch at the top (inside) of the glove box (ie, attached to the roof of the glove box). Nothing in it, just intrigued what it's for?!

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a few images of mine now it's all sorted.
7 weeks and 3500 miles in my ownership, and it's safe to say, I love it!
A quick before and after on the wheel colour:
Looking great but then I'm biased as mine is exactly the same bar stickers and wheel colour. Have you got all black interior as well?7 weeks and 3500 miles in my ownership, and it's safe to say, I love it!

Depends if theyre from the C6 or C7 A6? Latest C7 A6 yes, old one no, due to the Hub centre bore being too small. Latest A4/5/6 are 66.6mm centre bore and old ones 57.1 hence the old wheel wont physically go on. If you can see the part number on the wheel, 4F will be the C6 and 4G will be the new A6.

Just picked mine up. It's a much more grown up car than the M135i it's replacing, plus there about a million options and menus that I have to work my way around.
I'll be complaining about my exhaust tips in good time to join in
Looks great! Making the wait for mine really difficult! Roll on September!I'll be complaining about my exhaust tips in good time to join in
Very nice, is it brand new? If so I guess its a little early to compare the performance and overall experience to your Beemer but would be interested to hear as as the M135i was the obvious (and for a long time intended) replacement for my 130i? I've driven an auto M135 and did like it but for me the S4 ticked more boxes for year-round everyday use whereas the M135 would have had the most of the same good/bad points as the 130, just a bit quicker.

Yes, it's brand new, so I'm not that used to it yet, but I'd say the M135i felt a little bit quicker. However it could just be that it's because the way it delivered the power sas a little more urgent than the S4 does. I had a similar dilemma and was considering a 335i touring, but felt it to be too close and too flawed to replace the M135i with. So picked the S as, like you said, offered better year (and wrather) round performance.
