Is the flat bottom wheel only on the facelift options list?

All very nice and hoping to move to something like this for the next car

Flat bottom wheel is part of the 'Black Edition' spec which includes the rotor wheels, tints and black grill/piano black interior trim.

It was also available as a cheap option in its own right, but is more common on facelifts than earlier cars.

That's really nice! I hope you enjoy it!! I'd stil be tempted to take the first 1000 miles easy and get the oil changed after though, for piece of mind more than anything. I'd rather not have all those timy pieces of metal whizzing around my engine, but I'm weird about stuff like that, so I may be on my own there - haha.

FBMFSW was only available on facelift models, but can be retrofitted smile

It should loosen up somewhat so the fact it's not much slower now is a positive, plus as you say the power is smoother delivery than a turbo. I haven't driven an M135 for nearly a year so it's hard to draw comparison.

The 335 was another possible option for me too, problem is at the price I was looking at there's only really the E9x shape which are long in the tooth and not that dissimilar to the E8x 1 Series inside. Early F3x 335s are rare and too expensive, and both obviously still have the winter issues unless you plump for an XDrive derivative, but not sure the petrol 335 was available with that.

Yes, it's brand new, so I'm not that used to it yet, but I'd say the M135i felt a little bit quicker. However it could just be that it's because the way it delivered the power sas a little more urgent than the S4 does.

I had a similar dilemma and was considering a 335i touring, but felt it to be too close and too flawed to replace the M135i with. So picked the S as, like you said, offered better year (and wrather) round performance.

I agreed. I took mine really easy on the first 1000 miles. strictly below 3K rev. it was so painful!! My engine has now done 50K, and burning less than half a litre of oil every 6K miles. I cannot prove it, but I do wonder if my run in regime helps with the oil consumption compared to other stories i hear burning up to 1L per 1000miles.

Didn't find one I liked re 130i and 135i too small, currently in a MK5 R32.

S4 Avant is certainly on the list.

Don't worry I can't afford one yet.. Maybe I should go contracting or has Mr Osborne soured that now...

An S4 would certainly be a good choice, only got mine on Friday but loving it so far. It's significantly quicker and more planted than the 130 and has a lot more toys. As a life long manual man the S Tronic gearbox has taken a little bit of getting used to but I really like it, makes the waft to work very relaxing but at the same time when you want to unleash the ponies banzai mode is only a click away.

interesting read.
I am going for one of these. The wife suggested I sell my Nissan 370z to get a decent family car, and these fit the bill perfectly.
I see a black 2010 one in the classifieds which fits the bill, but I havnt sold mine yet.
I want Manual and a good spec.
I like the facelift 2012 cars but haven't seen a manual.
Did they stop doing them?

Yes - in the UK at any rate. It ended up in VED band L (£485/year), which rather killed it.

Worth trying an s-Tronic before ruling it out. It's a good box and suits the car

Id still have paid that car tax for a proper manual. frown

I really want a manual.
Looks like its going to be a pre 2012 car then.
Shame because my 370z is £485 a year.

Theres not many well specced cars about, so I will keep my eyes open.

yes

There was a really nice Black Edition manual at a garage near Cranleigh a few weeks ago ( this one) but it looks like it's now sold

Just had a quick go at cleaning my exhaust tips and can report that a Dremel with a brass brush on it like this does the trick quite easily, much easier than wire wool etc.

In 5 minutes one of my tips has gone from all black to 80% nice and shiny. Would have finished it off but the brush wore out so need to pop to the local tool shop this afternoon to pick up a few more.

Didn't do a before shot on the one I worked on it looked like this before

After 5 minutes looks like this

The rest will clean up just as easily when I get some more brushes

I'm going to take it easy for a bit. I've not really had a chance to drive it yet, so I'll try and bed it in gently over the first 1000 or so, like you say. I just found it interesting the deal said it didn't need to be run in, he just suggested that I don't use the launch control on the way home!

Found this on the drive this morning, so looks like I'll be needing a pair of rear springs.
Anyone changed theirs, is it easy, just take shocker bolt out and jump on the bottom arm? Or will I need spring compressors?

Sorry that wasn't a "here's what you could have won" type post biggrin Should have added that it might be worth calling the garage to see if its still available as I was only going on the Ebay advert, don't know for certain if it's gone.
