Interesting Obi. I actually had my service last week, I asked about a recall for the pump and provided the recall number to Swindon Audi to check. They told me it did not affect my car and hence it has not been carried out.

Edited to say mine is a Nov09 (59 plate) car with 5k miles. VIN number does not match the range posted on the Audizine forum.

its pretty easy to spot if youve got the plactic or metal pump, there are some pics on the audizine website which help. If I had the plastic one and knowing what I know now that at some point its very likely to go pop then id be jumping up and down to have it replaced as a matter of cause.

I've asked but as you encounter Audi are unlikely to listen to me.

anything?

my car only turned up this morning. turns out the parts on back order, but they wont oredr it until they've taken a look at the car which could be friday or early next week. so I have to wait another 3 days for them to even order a part thats on back order! bloody crazy.

meanwhile no loan or hire car and Audi UK have yet to respond to my email questioning the sanity of letting people run about in cars with known problems.

im losing faith in audi very very quickly and this is the first car ive ought from them. I had high hopes.
Nothing yet.

Sorry to hear that Fubar but at least it went in warranty and with the assistance of Audi Assist. I'm up to a heady 6k miles now so may be a while!

Guys there is another recall out for a Thermostat replacement. Mine is booked in week after next to do that and the water pump. Worth asking your dealer.

Well nearly two years and a heady 9500 miles and mine is looking to go now. Got my eye on something a bit bigger and sadly a liitle more orientated to the family. Have considered waiting for the RS4 but I suspect it'll be a good while yet so may try and pick up one at the end of that run in 2014 smile

Need to sort out an advert and post it on PH :|

Mixed emotions, been a great car, my favourite, time for someone else to enjoy.

Looking on ebay at aftermarket alloys they seem to be ET42.

11k miles now on mine and its the DSG box.

I was reading the new 2012 model is meant to be 7mpg better but same bhp
Comparing my MY10 brochure with the online MY12, the opposite is true in that the mpg figures are worse. The co2 numbers are the same though. The Avant manual dips below 20mpg on the urban cycle.

that makes no sence, MPG and CO2 figures are from the same test and are thus linked, you can't change one without the other.
You're right, they have changed in some respects.

Manual Saloon
MY 10 CO2 225 MPG 29.1 Price £34,255
MY 12 CO2 234 MPG 28.2 Price £37,330

STronic Saloon
MY 10 CO2 219 MPG 30.1 Price £35,675
MY 12 CO2 219 MPG 30.1 Price £38,600

Manual Avant
MY 10 CO2 229 MPG 28.5 Price £35,570
MY 12 CO2 239 MPG 27.7 Price £38,530

STronic Avant
MY 10 CO2 224 MPG 29.4 Price £36,800
MY 12 CO2 224 MPG 29.1 Price £39,800

Have Audi deleted the option to have a manual and made the S4 auto (S-tronic) only? Been having a look in the online brochure and there's no reference to a manual from what I can see; for the saloon the combined figure is 34.9mpg and 190 CO2, for the Avant 33.6mpg and 197 CO2 (so decent improvements over the previous models listed above).
How the hell have they done that? Stop Start?

Has the MY12 Manual saloon really got worse mpg and CO2 than the MY10 saloon ? Seems odd ?
Those were the figures on the website at the time of the post. Audi have no dropped the manual and improved the auto co2 to under 200 with an mpg of c34.5 according to website.

Interesting insight into the maintenance implications of the sports diff - thanks.

Dr G - changing the subject slightly... what's the forecast for B7 RS4 prices now the new car is out?

The reason for asking is that I'm in a bit of a flummox. We're going to need a one-size-fits-all family car solution, but part of its remit has to be a degree of exhilaration (it will, afterall, be replacing the M3 and I don't think I could cope with MPV / SUV bland misery). It might be joined by a cheap and cheerful snotter, but whatever we choose will need to be suitable for holidays, weekend supermarket trips and the occasional business trip whilst also having some level of entertainment ability on the occasions I'm allowed out by myself...

So I'm a bit stuck between

1. new(ish) S4 - perhaps the reliable, economic, dependable and sensible solution
2. a new(ish) RS4 - fast fun but, being sensible, probably out of budget unless there are some truly magnificent deals available
3. the old (V8) RS4 - probably with DRC repaired or removed to avoid the seemingly inevitable big bills. More iconic, well loved, robust residuals and still a remarkably fresh looking car.

Any thoughts?

(And if this is taking the thread too far off piste then feel free to say so and I'll take this elsewhere).
