We run Mich Super Sports on both S cars with happy results - bizarrely the design seems to result in much longer tyre life if you do a lot of urban driving on larger wheel sizes (both cars are on 20s).

I have heard good reports of the latest Pirelli P-zero in outright performance terms, but not heard about longevity.
How do you find the road noise with the Super Sports? I found them a little loud on the BMW, but I'm not sure if that was the car or the tyres

I just replaced a set of Bridgestones with Super Sports and the new ones seem quieter that the RE050As that I had before. Saying that, the old tyres were VERY worn and I had just been driving with my winter tyres on which are very noisy.

I did notice the Super Sports are extremely noisy on the concrete section of the M25 though but that's a horrid piece of road anyway.

Same here (the South West section in my case) but otherwise I find them relatively quiet

For wheel sizes use this site http://www.wheel-size.com/size/audi/a4/

You can check every model for offset, bore size, etc.

19" Segments in the right size are rare and expensive, I doubt you'll get much change from a grand.

I picked my 19" Le Man's up for £500 with great tyres, but that was cheap IMO, you may need to go to £700.

I sold my 18's on ebay for £260 with 2 nearly new top tyres and 2 worn, they were in v good condition. I was disappointed with that price, especially as I was posting them nationwide (for extra £50) so open to a bigger audience. However I do wonder if it was related to ebay search as when I searched for them under certain titles they didn't appear when really (IMO) they should have.

Overall I'm delighted though, the 19's transform the car for me in terms of looks, and they are only marginally impacting the ride quality.

Yes I've spotted a set on ebay, £1500 from Germany but they are newly refurbished in anthracite and come with brand new Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres.

Are the dunlop's any good?

Also cant decide between the Segments or the 19" Rotor wheels.

What do you think would look best on my 2010 S4 Avant in black?

Segments, in silver. IMO the rotors are fitted to alot of bog a4's.,. You never see segments on them.

Plus they look SO good on the avants.

Not a huge fan of silver on black personally, black on black is too dark.

Anthrcite on black is the perfect middle ground IMO smile

Might look into getting all the "chrome" bits done to match too.

Just wondering if anyone has fitted a smaller supercharger pulley and belt without having any remapping done? Is this inadvisable? Would there be no power gains unless the hardware was matched to the appropriate remapping?

It'll be set to bleed off boost at a set level, so you'd be wasting your time, remap and pulley however... weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Thanks

+1. Seeing a Sepang blue "Black edition" 150BHP 2.0TDI on 19" rotors at the dealership played a big part in my decision to NOT have a Black Edition car!

Re the remap, well go back a few (10+) pages and you'll read my account of a brief play with my friend's remapped S4. His is DSG and mine is manual and TBH there didn't see much in it other than during the gear changes he seemed to just leap forward. Overall it was v close from the quick tests we did - I'm sure a stage 2 would be better though.

His was a REVO map and his car did seem quick when driving it, he has a friend with a GT3 911 and he says in a straight line there is nothing in it.

Weird though as the Chris Harris video of the rampped s4 vs the rs4 is v much night and day difference.

I still want mine mapped but I'm bulking at the £750+ cost.

I thought I'd gatecrash the thread as although I've got a D4 A8, it's got the same 3.0 TFSI engine as the S4/S5.

Gave MRC a ring today and had a chat with them. Unfortunately, although I could go Stage 2 with a map and pulley, due to the low numbers of A8's that have this engine, they don't have an uprated air intake pipe and filter application. Therefore I would be left with a standard airbag and intake pipes which they say could fail due to the increased amount of air being fed into the engine.

It was recommended that I go for a Stage 1. In my car, the engine is detuned and they reckon they could get up to 450 bhp with just a Stage 1 map. Thinking of booking it in soon.

450bhp is not to be sniffed at and will give a few supercars a little surprise me thinks.

My standard b8s4 needs a fettle soon although it still surprises me how nimble it is when pushing on!

I wonder how it drives with the extra power i.e does it just rev higher to give the extra bhp?

I’m having 2 teething issues with my S4 Avant is anyone can help?

1. It's impossible to open the drivers window at more than 10 MPH as the wind hits you straight in the face (I’m 6'7 so seats far back), anyone else have this issue? I’ve owned about 15 cars and never had this before.

Do the tinted wind deflectors make any difference? Anyone got a pic of a black Avant with them on?

2. The wiper blades are shot, rather than getting ebay specials, any recommendations of where to get decent quality replacements reasonably?

Thanks smile

Can't help on #1 as rarely drive with the windows down - sunroof open and rears cracked down at most!

  1. 2 - pop to TPS and buy OEM. No messing about, they take seconds to fit (once you've found the menu option in MMI to put them into the service position so you can get the blades off!) and they just work. I paid £30 for the pair last time.

Wipers ordered, thank you!

The exhaust note on my standard S4 avant is lovely, just a little too quiet, without spending £1,500 on a full cat back system, is there anything I can do to improve it a little for reasonable ££
