I'm looking to renew my tyres next week and the best tyres seem to be Goodyear Asemetrics, have any of you had good or bad results with this tyre?

Thanks

I had them on my old A5, theyre certainly head and shoulders better than the Conti Sport contact3's on my current S5 which are garbage. unfortunatley Goodyear dont do them in the 265/30/20 i need.

Michelin pilot super sports here. Very impressed and much better than the Bridgestone RE050A I had before.

Need to replace all 4 soon, and was looking at these earlier on event tyres. £190 (19's), prices seem to have gone up recently frown

I have the Michelin PS4 on mine at the moment. They are my favourite tyre and are a tiny bit noisier than the Contis the car came with

The Michelins grip well and seem to be wearing well also, done about 7,000 miles so far and look good as new

I loved the F1 Assymetric 2s on my old B6 A4 that I just swapped for the B8.5 S4. Have heard mixed reviews for the Assym 3s though - they dont seem to be as well received. I dont know if that is just because the competition has got better but the reviews read almost as though they are a step back from the Assym 2s. Certainly they are not supposed to have as good rim protection as the 2s.

Some of the new tyres that get the best reviews arent available in our sizes yet though...

Pirelli P-Zero seem to be rated the best all rounder of what is available: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/918...

Hello Gents,

I've been slowly reading through this thread after being recommended by a fellow member who is also on here.

I've not managed to get to the end of he 119 pages as yet but have been looking for an early S4 Avant and have found one that ticks most of the boxes, however is missing the B&O sound package, so I just wanted to get your views on the difference between the standard and the B&O package?

Thanks!

B&O was a cheap and popular option (£350 IIRC) - it's quite rare not to have it so if it sounds ok to you without then no worries but can be used as a bargaining point. If the spec you're looking at isn't otherwise rare then try and find one with B&O to compare to

£535 on the later cars, but it's standard on the "Black Edition" cars. Didn't bother to spec it on my car, and have no regrets about that.

Hi,

Had this key fault symbol come up on the dash this afternoon, any idea what it means?

I get that symbol on the dash if the ignition is on and I get out of the car with the key in my pocket - its a key range issue, the symbol clears when I get back in the car. It is to stop you driving off without the key.

Re the chap asking about a 90k car, go in with your eyes open, it won't be cheap to run.

Clutch would be my main worry (£2k job). (for a manual, unsure on auto)
If Auto I'd be v worried about the lifespan of the DSG box, make sure it's never missed a gearbox oil change service, check it seems ok and not clunky, bills for these can be big.

Check its got a good service history. I mean these cars can be fine, mines done 86k now and is not cheap due to small things costing alot (£280 for a wheel bearing, front discs and pads £400, tyres and so on) but it's wearing it's miles very well. I need a clutch soon I think so that is a major expense but I got the car at a silly-good price.

Just have to remember this is a 40k+ performance car with associated running costs. The water pump issue - well I'd be amazed if any car over 30k miles still has the plastic one, pretty sure it was a recall job. Audi checked their history log for me and said mine was done pretty early on in the cars life.

Superb cars though, If I ever have to downgrade mine I'd go for a LCI 535D though smile

MRC are now claiming that they can 'tune' the CREC engine. Does anybody know if this is a remap or still a piggy back device?

This video looks tasty... https://vimeo.com/197680340

and this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXZi9PDSTYY

Lots of stuff on their Facebook page as well: https://www.facebook.com/mrctuning

About time too, but Blimey.

I guess 4 is stock, 3 is with remap, 2 is with S-tronic remap (for sensible rev limit!) and 4 is pulley?

Nice to see the needle actually getting near the rev limit for once frown

Roll on the end of the warranty! I wonder how the internals will handle that extra power...
