Yeah, A6 Allroad gets adaptive air as standard; A4 simply gets taller (but conventional) coil springs with optional damper control.

Need 4 new tyres shortly. Tend to use Event, as they come to my house, get good service, so (for 255/35/19):

Pirelli Pzero Nero £150
Pirelli Pzero Rosso £158
Goodyear Assymetric 3 £163
Conti Sport Contact £168
Michelin PS3 £190
Michelin PS4 £194

(can probably get a bit off that, as use Event a few times, and they'll probably give me a discount if i ask).

Have Contis on now, so will probably try something different.

Probably go for Goodyear, as had them before, liked them, and struggling to justify the extra £25 (£100 for 4) for the PS3/4's.

Can't remember if I've ever had Pirelli Pzeros.

Any thoughts?

I know tyres tend to be worth the money you pay for them but I decided to have some Avon (can't remember the type) tyres on mine when I didn't like paying £200 odd for the PS2s (as they were at the time I think). They weren't as good as the Michelin's but lasted as long and were around half the price, just over.

Apparently the Goodyear Assym 3 arent as good as the Assym 2 and the rim protection is virtually non-existant from what I read.

According to this test: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/918...

PS4 or PZero seem like top choices.

I put PS4s on my Golf R and they were great compared to the Dunlop or Pirellis (can't remember which) that were on the car before. So much better grip and turn in, although that can be said about most new tyres I suppose.

Just put a pair of Goodyear Asymm 2's on the S4, but given weather and road conditions at present it's difficult to make any sensible assessment. £122 per corner, fitted. (Edit: that's for 18"s. You have 19"s!)

Only problem was that the fancy valve caps I'd been given last summer have all welded themselves to the valves, so until I somehow cut the damn things off I can't even check or adjust the pressures. Grrr.

(and yes, it's my fault for not removing them weekly to check pressures by hand, but TPMS makes you lazier...)

Probably ZZ5 and I agree; they are very good (and hard to fault for the money).

I think they were the ones. Yeah if absolute performance is a must them probably not but doing all 4 corners for £500 ish (IIRC) was far more palatable than £900 ish (IIRC) without a lot of loss elsewhere! I haven't had the car for 4 years so I cant quite remember.

Can anyone give an thoughts as to whether this is a good buy or not? High risk of big bills in the not too distant future?

Recent new gearbox fitted by Audi, if anything was going to give you a big bill it was that...

Thanks Phil,

Going to take a look at this car in the next few days. Anything in particular I should look out for?

Changing from an E46 330i which is a great car, but really fancy a V engine for my next 'sensible' estate car!

Seems cheap enough and looks to be good condition although mileage is high, the new gearbox (if Audi supplied) probably cost close on the asking price.

I've had a new gearbox (manual) and sports diff (both paid for by Audi). Probably cost more than the car is worth.

And makes me think why am I renewing the warranty, as the big things are now pretty much new!! ("but what if they go again?" my sensible head tells me... I may as well scrap the car!)

Spec looks fairly decent - tech pack high (so HDD nav, bluetooth, AMI and x2 SD card slots), full leather, front parking sensors, hill hold assist, bigger wheels. Can't tell what else from the pics

Might be the light but I'd be looking carefully at the colour of the bumpers - they've probably needed some paint after all those miles, but the pictures make the paint look quite dull compared to the surrounding metal panels.

Michelin tyres inspires some confidence it's been looked after too

Spec looks good, even though no sports diff. MOT history looks good, too.

Worst thing I can see is that the rear numberplate looks off-centre. Check for accident repairs/paint depths would probably be advisable - and it will need DSG oil change at 134,000 miles.

Strange one this afternoon...

Unlocked the car, and the drivers door wouldn't open. Every other door OK, boot OK, but not the drivers door. Wasn't frozen, was quite mild at the time. So I got in the passenger side, and opened the drivers door from the inside.

Been fine since.

I've had a door lock go before (on a Golf) but then I couldn't open from the outside or the inside. So I don't know what the issue was today, or if it will happen again!

Any ideas?

I put a pair of Goodyear Assymetric 3's on mine a few weeks ago - 19" around £150 each from F1 Autocentres (cheap price, terrible service). Not a tyre expert but pleased with them so far and massive improvement to the worn Conti's which were tram lining constantly. I'll be putting another pair on the rears in the next month or 2, I would've changed all 4 at the same time but F1 helpfully cocked up the order..

How old is the car? Mines an 09 and my rear os door has stopped unlocking in the last few months, can still be opened from inside and locks OK.
I've got the mot soon so need to find out if it will fail on this?
Haven't looked at it as it's so cold outside and I don't like the idea of stripping the door card off in these Temps might make the plastic a bit fragile.
