[pedant mode]

sadly, that's techincally wrong too!

TVS (supercharger) is not a compressor, it's a roots type pump (and Merc are wrong to as they used Eaton M series superchargers that are also roots pumps)

So my local dealer won't change to gearbox and diff oil for me as they are sealed for life... I have purchased the oil (gearbox and diff oil are different) and will change it at the weekend, will post to show the condition of the old oil.

Hmm - been on nearly a week at £26.5k (cheapest around by a fair whack) and not a cheep frown

Honest opinions please - is it a price issue or just not a big second hand market at that price point?

I'd say it's on for a fair price. If you look at others around that price they're a lot more miles. Thing is there isn't a great market for cars at that price. I'd suggest adding more photos and description though as non s4 owners won't know what's included. I'd love to buy it but I don't have a good enough wage to afford £500 a month on a loan and petrol 😢

Thanks for the feedback Richard - go ahead and get that loan! wink

That sort of car and price mean that vast majority will want to go through a dealer. There needs to be a significant for someone to go private.

There is a main dealer car that's only a shade more than yours (but lower mileage) also.

Ha I just thought I'd humour myself and look and over 4 years it would be £600 a month. That's almost half my wage haha. Man maths definitely not working today otherwise I would of got it.

Unfortunately the majority of Jo public are earning £26k a year or a lot less than that here in Somerset and cannot afford loans of £500 a month with costs of living.

Most will go PCP for ease of payments. It took me a good 6 weeks recently to sell a £12k car and even then that was the only phone call I had....just struck lucky.

Most in Middle England cannot afford it or drive dull diesel's these days.

GLWS though

I agreed. How many people would be happy to hand in £26k cash to a completely stranger whom I may never see the back of you again. No disrespect to you at all. If I were planning to buy a car with that sort of value. I would prefer to pay another grand or two. At least I know I can take someone to court if it comes to it.

Good luck anyway. I am somewhat surprised you were so unhappy with the s4. Okay it is not the best car in any individual aspect, it certainly is the best car can do most aspect very well.....in my opinions anyway.

Thanks Doc. Take your point although the dealer car I think you refer to is £1,000 more (is that a 'shade'?!) and has a much lower spec than mine as far as I can see.

You not got anything nice with a manual box I could swap for ? smile

Thanks for the feedback Gents - I must just be a trusting sort as I would happily buy used if the seller seemed ok and the car was under warranty. It's not really the S4 I am unhappy with, just the auto - if only I had kept my dearly loved manual S4 which I traded in for this one... hey ho you live and learn...rolleyes

I also think most are financing, and getting a £25000 loan is very heard these days, £15k unsecured is about as much as you can get easily.
Far easier to go through a dealer.

Indeed. I got a couple of unbelievably low (my naivety perhaps) trade in quotes from BMW dealers against M135i hence the attempt to sell it private and only take a modest wallet raping as opposed to a massive one! The BMW dealers I think just offload it to the nearest Audi dealer so perhaps not that surprising they were low but given the car would probably sticker for £29k I was expecting a bit more...

You'd probably see 23 for it trade.

CAP is 24850 so webuyanycar.com is worth a go; they're unlikely to have bought enough of those to adjust for a more realistic value.

What's the CAP value for your S4?
