I think it's long high speed runs that kills them. They are sometimes almost too hot to touch. (Apart from track, I never had that down south). I'm not talking motorway speeds BTW.
I live in the Netherlands so have done my fair share of long high speed runs - at motorway speeds however.German ones

You can have my beep if you like, I don't want it.
Tee hee ! Seriously though, any ideas why it's just stopped ? I think it's something that can be set in VCDS but a) I don't have that and b) have done nothing to the car that I can see would affect it - I can't see any option in the MMI for instance.harry Hasser said:
Hi Guys , sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but any suggestions for replacement tyres for my 2013 S4 Avant (Estoril Blue, non black pack for those that want to know !) , currently on factory supplied Bridgstones, coming up to 12k miles and ready for some new rubber
Considering a switch to Goodyear F1 , any views / experience ?
thanks
Hi Harry. I swapped onto F1s a little while ago. Have had them on my Cerbera for years and rate them as a 'sporting' tyre. All good Considering a switch to Goodyear F1 , any views / experience ?
thanks
PS 70k miles in my S4. You guys need to get out more
PPS no beep for me either

No, I found that, that's an s-tronic. I am sure someone ran a 6 speed manual at SRR and got an even better result. I've read about it here and it's referenced in more than one thread I'm sure but can't find it now.liffy99 said:

I think it's under central locking setup in the MMI, but depends on MMI setup/firmware as to whether you can see it to switch it on/offIf you need to code it this is the process:
Enable Horn confirmation on locking
[46 – Cent. Convenience.] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 1
Bit 2 - Check the box or change (Bit 2 Set to 1)
For beeps on disarm:
Enable Double Disarm Beep
[46 - Central Conv.] [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 63
Add 4
ensure Module 46, Byte 1, Bit 2 is ticked. This activates the alarm audible notification option
I've enabled TPMS on ours and just updated all the firmware versions and 2014 HDD maps, but not bothered with locking beep as we live in a small street and would probably annoy neighbours! I use the folding mirrors on locking as an indicator it has locked.
I know we've spoken before ref West Country catch up - now we've got the Sportback will have to arrange when we're next down - just come back from Cornwall in the car! I have VCDS so happy to oblige
Hi all,
Firstly I'd like to say it's superb to see you have such a detailed and dedicated thread for the B8 S4.
Secondly, I'm about to pick up my (new to me) Audi S4 from my dealer this Friday!!
Having read many reviews and watched many clips online I decided that this was the right car for me.
A certain Chris Harris video may have influenced me a little
Anyways, this will be my first Audi - I've had all BMW's until now and thought I'd try something different.
My brother has had a TTS for a few years now and I was sold on Quattro and S-Tronic after we had a swap for a while.
So, a Phantom Black 2009 S4 Avant, S-tronic with Magma/Black Super Sport Seats will be mine very soon... Friday can't' come quick enough!
Looking forward to more updates on this thread.
Good work

Not too many options tbh, no Nav or sports diff but the condition, low mileage, Main dealer years warranty were the main pulls.
I just needed something more practical (inevitable when fatherhood strikes) and the urge for something with a bit of punch!
Previously I've had E36, E46 325i, E46 330cd and more recently the Z4 23i all of which were nice. Next was going to be an E90 M3 or B7 RS4 but I think this will be the better all rounder which the better half can drive comfortably and give me a scare when I feel the need.
The fuel economy of the high rev V8's scared me off along with their high tax bands - I do a reasonable commute but it's 95% motorways up here in Scotland at around 60mph so I hope to get close to the quoted figures.
I would like to do a few subtle mods in time - tints, 19" wheels and if possible swap the gear lever to the new round type.
All being well, after the warranty runs out I may look to go down the remap route and scare some B8 RS4's and Carrera S's

Update from me:
I switched to Millers 5w-40 cts nanodrive on my last service. 3.5k miles so far and glad to report no usage at all. Was surprised at just how high the oil temperature runs on these,114-117C at motorway speeds!

My much modded Impreza from back in 2008 would only hit 110deg after a lot of hard track laps. And it had no oil cooler.
AudiSRS had a dyno day at Surrey Rolling Road the weekend before last so I ran my B8 S4 (s-tronic).
Not bad for a factory standard car eh?!
When you consider the Audi quoted figure is 333PS and 371.5hp = 376.66PS that's a healthy dose of modesty from Audi. Also looks like I have a strong and healthy one.
I like the power and torque plots. Visualises exactly how they drive.
Most other results were either where expected or a little down, so this really stood out. Also the second time the car has done it's party trick of running more power than a B7 RS4 same day same dyno.
