I notice in the pic of the service log that at 45k the S-Tronic oil and filter wasn't done. Assuming it isn't on a previous service, should I be worried? It's from a dealer so will have 3 months warranty. Can I just get it booked in ASAP?

Also when's the cambelt due these days?!

Cheers.

That appears to be the Black Edition spec, minus the rotor wheels which I find look a bit lost in the arches on some S4s depending on the colour - grill, interior trim detail and tints are all part of it. Those 19s were over a grand to spec over the factory 18s.

Pano roof is really nice on the Avants - you also hear more of the exhaust in the Avant than the saloon and particularly so with the roof open!

No advanced key (not the end of the world)

Has B&O (that's good news)

I really like some of the 2 tone seats - they look a lot darker when you actually see them - more of a silver than an off white.

Can't see enough of the centre console to work out tech pack spec, but the visual parking visible means it's defo got parking sensors front and back (even fronts were an option if rears were spec'd!)

I'd be ringing the dealer(s) that've serviced it from new to check on the box service. It's a mileage based change interval so it should've been done before the 45k service, if sticking to the schedule. I'd expect the book to be marked as such or an invoice to show when it was done - preferably the year before, but I'd still want to double check in the presence of paperwork or not. As an example our Sportback was serviced at 6 months old, prior to its first sale to a private buyer and has been religiously serviced annually since, most recently in June. They did not do brake fluid or air-con services as both are time based at 3 years, so I had those done last week and the book has been stamped again to show both have been done. If it's not had the box service and it's now 20k+ overdue I'd walk away, personally.

Without a full Audi history an approved extended warranty will be off the cards (£414 for named component with 250xs!) but if it has full Audi history and ALL the time based stuff has been done I'd take it out for the peace of mind on the box front.

I see the S4 was having a mini meet for "white Audis with 19" 5-segment potato peelers" with that A4 cab in the background in the 2nd to last pic laugh

what's that?

is that just an s-tronic thing? (not relevant to manual box?)

Can't comment on the gearbox service, but advanced key is quite a nice feature that isn't retro-fit able; basically the key has a radio in it, so you can just walk up to the car with the key in your pocket and pull the door handle to unlock (touch a small square on any of the handles to lock), then just get in and press start without getting the key out of your pocket.

You can't lock the key in the car, either, as it 'knows' the key is inside it.

Nice feature, but not the end of the world without it.

I have the exact same silver seats in a black edition saloon.

They are darker in the reality and lift the dark interior.

to put this in context, that's £4K more than I got for ours with half the miles last year (same age and similar spec car)

I'm staggered how people look at paying dealers massive premiums over what's in classifieds.

Seems strong money? I only paid £21500 last year for a 33k miles 60 plate with almost the same spec (manual not DSG) from an Audi dealer.

Correct smile With the manual it's dual mass flywheels and a dodgy clutch, rather than gearboxes usually

Valuations are all over the place - I had access to CAP and Glass's when we were looking and as far as I was concerned was happy with the price we paid for our Sportback from an indy dealer (about £1500 under book retail) especially given it is way above average on spec.

My local main dealer claims their used stock goes up priced high and they reduce £500 at a time over weeks until someone bites. Initial prices usually about £3k over book!

Yes! What a day yesterday.

Yesterday was fun...!

Plymouth to Cardiff in the A4. Dealers in Cardiff ended up knocking the A4 back on a load of issues so their price was terrible.

Back on the blower to another buyer who ended up OKing about £800 more for the A4.

So drove back from Cardiff to Exeter.

Train from Exeter to Derby.

Taxi from Derby to car dealership.

Drove back to Plymouth. Got back in at about 9.30pm. Slept well though!

Absolutely fell in love with the car as soon as I saw it. It's magnificent. The white against the wheels / sunroof / seats just look amazing. Feels a world away from the A4.

And the power is fantastic! I had a 3.2 TT (250ps) before and the S4 blows it out of the water. And the sports diff!!! Took a few roundabouts "enthusiastically" and it really is like it's on rails, incredible!

I might have overpaid for it slightly but I'm one happy customer! More pics to follow.

PS. What's the easiest way of getting my music to play in her? I've got a Samsung Galaxy S4.

Glad to hear it - sounds a bit of a trek!

I get annoyed that my dealer is 17.5 miles away, frankly....

B8 pre-facelift, isn't it, with the round fogs?
Bluetooth from the SG3 and SG5 to the MMI works fine in my B8.5, but I've a feeling that A2DP streaming over bluetooth doesn't work in the B8.

So, in the glovebox, there should be an AMI cable; you may need to get the right one, as there's various for iPhone or for micro USB.

More info on audizine, but I suspect someone else will be along shortly with a better answer.

Congrats!

If you have tech pack high, the internal jukebox (10GB) or the SD card slots are easiest for me. Or AMI if you have the patience to connect your phone/ipod every time.

Can they read 32gb cards?

Yes, BUT!

It can only read 3,000 tracks per card, so not much point in a 32g card, 16g is big enough for 3,000 tracks at 320k

Congrats on the new purchase smile

Ref music, with the B&O it's worth having the music files in a high quality lossless format as the default mp3 192 sounds a bit weedy. Even 320 is a major improvement.

Ref pairing the phone - make sure you delete all old bluetooth profiles from the car and your phone, if you've already used them together. Try pairing from your phone first and see if it offers you two profiles - handsfree is precisely that only. The other 'should' support streaming on a non-Apple phone. I tend to do as others suggest and have a mix of stuff on SD cards, the jukebox (you can only upload to it via SD card or AMI unless you unlock the DVD drive via VCDS) and an old ipod that's left in the car all the time.
