Is it the new model you have bought? Would be interested to hear how you get on with it, look on paper like a very impressive car with the 1.4 twincharger engine. Oh and don't forget to post pics thumbup

And......

I pick mine up in the next couple of weeks being a week 41 build.

I would be interested to learn how you spec'd the car. Mine will be relatively standard. Only options - climate, convenience pack, DAB radio and multi-function steering wheel. I went for Candy White.

Sorry guys...

Anyway, picked it up yesterday at 3pm to go 100 yards and find the horn doesn't work. I reckoned it would be a fuse, took it back to the dealer and they said it's not got a fuse for the horn and that they can't check any further as their VAS computer is down...not a brilliant start to be honest.

Went to fuel it - £48 something for a full tank (currently getting 22MPG with town and "look at my new car" driving.

The interior is on a totally different level to my previous car (Suzuki Swift Sport) and on a different level to most cars I have driven in my opinion. Excellent finishes to the car and great little details all over. When you put it in reverse the rear wiper clears once. The LED lights adjust depending on the light outside. All things I expect are usual in VAG cars but they are definitely not usual in a Suzuki.
Exterior is well designed with great sharp lines through out the car. Wheels in the typical GTI monza style. Love the front, looks aggressive yet not too shouty.
Power is delivered so smoothly, you'd be hard pushed to realise you are doing 100MPH without looking at the speedo. Yes, it is true in a sense that the steering is not as involved as you get in the likes of a Fiesta but I reckon that is down to the comfort levels and the ride smoothness. Something I am sure I will get used to in no time. The DSG box is also out of this world. Makes town driving so much easier. Not used 'S' mode as much as I thought I would but I don't think you'd miss it if it was not there - perhaps I have this opinion because I've not used it. The car feels much more expensive than it actually is. I know £18'275 is a big price tag for a Polo but honestly, you'd think it would be more!

So far, other than the horn (not down to the car), I have no complaints. Heading on a long run tonight so I will have a better idea on fuel consumption later on. Waited 6 months for the car with several delays in build dates and nearing the end of this time I was getting rather pissed but I can say it was well worth the wait!

As I have been running around in the car for most of the 24 hours I have had it, it's looking rather dirty. Giving it a wash this Sunday and will be HD'ing it then so will get photos up then! In the meantime here are some snaps when it was getting PDI'd

I'd be interested to hear more too... My wife has the 1.8T 9n3 version, and this new one would more than likely be its replacement.

Not many appeared on Autotrader yet. This one first went on at £19,995 a couple of weeks ago. After a couple of days they decided they weren't being greedy enough, and upped it to £21,995 eek seems a tad overpriced to me, as it's not got that many options on it. Maybe that's why it is still for sale!

I'd happily pay more for the Polo though, as it is IMHO a much better looking car than the Fabia, both inside and out...

This Polo is a bit more sensibly priced @~list

Blimey. I paid £17,600 for mine via a broker, with the car coming from a large London dealer (who have been excellent so far). Mann Egerton is my local dealer too. Greedy so and so's. On the basis that you expect to lose an amount the equivalent of the vat as soon as you buy a new car (or there abouts) I can't see that someone would be daft enough to pay what they are asking, even if delivery is now March.

There are some crazy lead times in VAG world at the moment aren't there!

The A3 I ordered for my next company car back on the 1st Sep, isn't due to be delivered till March 31st!

£17,600 was a good price.

See, much better looking than the Fabia smile

Red does suit it. The missus' current GTi is Red, so thought about a change, but the blue seems a bit too dark, and black is always a pain to keep looking clean. That leaves silver or white... scratchchin looks like it will have to be another red one then biggrin

So far, so awesome.

I disregard my last comment about sport mode! As soon as you think about touching the throttle the car downshifts - its mega fast!

Fuel consumption is also very good. You can easily achieve 40mpg on a run over 10 miles. Over a 30 mile run I got 51.4mpg (really testing it). But yeah, 40 is easy to get with speeds of 60-70mph as long as you don't have the urge to bury your right foot too often.

Get's plenty of attention wherever you go. Passers by will comment, friends will lust!

One of my mates has a Vauxhall Corsa VXR Racing and, as if by magic, we met on the road going to Inverness 2 Sundays ago. Although I was down 15BHP, he was not pulling away on the straights. I was all over him in the corners and when I passed he was a mere red dot in my rear view mirror!

The car is everything I expected - and more!! If you are in the market for a small hot hatch I'd definitely check this out (if you can be bothered waiting 5-7 months tongue out)

Forgot to add my very biased view. Skoda is a disgusting looking car, totally revolting. Seat is far, far to shouty. VW is by far the best laugh

I also thought about a black GTI after seeing a friends black 5dr Golf GTI, however, I think the Polo would look stupid in said colour as it'd be too small!

I've seen VW dealers doing that a lot recently, they have managed to create so much demand that they often pitch the nearly new cars for the same money as the list price of a new one, or more as in that case. Its a bit odd as a few years ago nearly new cars represented a bargain, but now they have become a bit of a rip off. Also going a bit off-topic but I've noticed that certain VWs like the Eos, Scirocco and Tiguan seem to refuse to depreciate in the first 12 - 24 months making them a pointless used buy. The only big savings are on the ex-rental 'fleet spec'Golfs/ Passats.

Yes, fuel economy has improved greatly. Like I said, you can easily achieve 40mpg on a run over 10 miles with speeds of 60-70mph

True, you will save £3000 on the Fabia but, let's face it, it's not the same
