I've just had the 2nd injector fail in quick succession on one of our fleet. It's 2.0 TDi 170. Late 2006. 60000 miles. I would usually just put it down to running costs, but they're around £600 each! Does anyone know if this is a common fault, and are the other two likely to go?

welcome to the club, seems to be a common problem happened to me a couple of weeks back, 2007 170 A4 with 73k on the clock. Piezo injectors more effecient but prone to failure and cost a small fortune.

I had it repaired by an indy mate of a mate for £650 total (incl new wiring harness).

yes common fault on many modern oil burners with this type of injector some can be reconed others cant its just something that requires building into the running costs of the cars although as already stated the looms suffer on the Vag engines with oil ingress.

Ex-Audi guy who came to buy my old A4 said they tend to go around 100K miles. Had an A3 on our fleet that had 2 go, then the other 2 a couple of months after. Total bill was nearly £3K so about right. Ouch.

So, is that a formal recall then?

A friend has had this exact same thing, how will he convince the dealer to cough up?

I'm just off the phone to Audi UK and they are aware of it, I await a call from them to arrange reimbursement / replacement of the remaining 2 original injectors.

All going well I should get back over £1500.

Interesting, dread to think how many of those we've paid for frown
