Just a thought, does the ATF need changing regularly or are these "sealed for life" boxes?

If they're meant to be "sealed for life" then how easy is it to change as I don't believe that any autobox is really good to go for life on one fill of ATF!?
hiya blue,
been into this and its £550 therabout to change the atf, AT AUDI.
paranoia can take over if your car is over 100.000mls
if you have access to a ramp, its not that hard to do
but you will have to sort out a filling method, [easy enough to do]
and follw certain rules.
aka8 is bang on with his comments,
great car the 4.2 petrol,,
i live on a 1 in 6 hill, and was able to reverse up it in 6" of snow,

Nice car that, whereabouts are you - looks very Yorkshire!
Mine has Pirelli PZero Assemetrico's on and even on Wednesday when it was hammering it down with snow mine was just brilliant - I can not praise it enough!

I've got Pirellis also - SottoZeros - amazing. Thanks,I'm in Macclesfield.Photo taken yesterday going over between Macc - Buxton so similar to Yorks.I must admit the

handling in the snow last year was good in a different Quattro with all season tyres on,but it's transformed with winters!

I have a 3.0 TDI that I have run for 18 months now. Done around 21k miles and trip computer is showing 33.5mpg.

Great car. My only issue is the size. It does feel big in car parks etc.

hiya ben,
i agree with the car prk bit but the parking sensors are boss.
i never got a diesel simply because i do round 3000mls,
the cost of repairs to them is enormous,
ok if you do mega mls, dosnt happen with the petrol as no turbo,
and expensive injectors,
were i live is in the outback in wales and i get 23/26 mpg, more on the motorway wen i use it,
no lights,no roundabouts, no traffic,

anyone know if you can run winter tyrs in normal use all year,,

You can use them all year if you really want but they aren't good in the summer, stopping distances increase, wear increases and life is shortened.

If you really just want one set of tyres then the Nokian WRG2 is supposed to be suitable all year round.

I am due to pick up my A8 4.2 tdi tomorrow from Chester-Le-street and drive back to Taunton Somerset.... Very much looking forward to it.
Does anyone know how much a general service is at Audi? All fluid changes? Etc.
Thanks in advance
Dave

FWIW, the Audi fixed price A8 servicing is currently cheaper than I'm being quoted by an independent.

Timely thread resurrection. I'm considering chopping my S320 in and getting back into the Audi fold. Can't beat a bit of Quattro.

Considering a D4 3.0TDI. I didn't know there was a low power and high powered one.

Picked it up in the end and so far extremely happy with the car. Just about used to all the batmobile buttons...
It's pretty nippy but looking to get it remapped can anyone suggest where to get it done?
I have read however that people have attempted to remap them and can not do it correctly??
If anyone is considering getting one go for it.
Popped into Audi and booked my health check which is getting done tomorrow along with a wash. Not bad for £0 😬

hi,there i have had 2 A8’s 4.2 V8 petrol which accelerate instantanously, the 1st one 96’ reg the 2nd 04’ reg,not sure what the economy was like, the 96’ was de-catted,much louder and faster, and miss that intoxicating noise and rush, the 2nd one was standard, both like to drink, especially around town,3rd A8 is an 09’ reg 3.0 tdi sport, still goes well, quieter, thinks about accelerating when you put your foot down, not instantanous like the other 2,but doing far more fewer trips to fuel up,mostly around town like the other 2,and am £20 better off each month on the insurance, tax is higher though,as for heating up,doesent take to long on a 1.5 mile school run, especially this time of the year, and i run the heated seat alot of the time, its good for my back,i use an independent garage for brakes etc to keep costs down, and the audi dealer for the suspension system that wasn’t right, wasn’t expensive, just needed to be re-gassed as far as i remember, like i have said,on my 3rd and not had any major problems on any of them

Must be good for getting between wrestling venues.

Maybe you'll find a full stop at one of them.
