I've had a manual TDI 140 for a couple of months now, and while generally very pleased with it, I've noticed an intermittent brief loss of power, mainly in 4th gear lowish revs, when the road dips downhill. It lasts maybe a second or so, so is not dangerous, just annoying. I've searched google and read of a few others having similar problems, but all seem to have been told by dealers that there is nothing fundamentally wrong. Has anyone here experienced this and had a fix?

we have had similar issues with our tdi sport 140.
cruisning along, back off teh throttle and feather it lightly and it will sometimes hiccup for a second or so and then return to normal.
VW ran a diagnostic but there were no issues, or warnings in the logs
interesting enough, once, we lost all power. couldnt accelerate, only maintain speed. dropping down the gears, was the same.
Pulled into services, stopped the car, switched off engine, restarted it ... no problem .. wheelspan under hard acceleration all the way back to motorway cruising speeds. has occured 4 more times that I can recall. VW cannot find any problems

We have exactly the same with our Seat Leon 2.0 tdi 140. Nowhere bad enough to take it in, but would be nice to know what it is.

I've noticed this once or twice in our mk5 140 TDI. It's been so slight I never thought to do anything.

This is pretty common, only seems to affect VAGs diesels. It's a mild hesitation when going over a bump.

Plenty of reports online but i don't think it's yet been acknowledged by VAG frown or if it has, they've not issued a fix.

Thanks for the replies. Seems a shame that a car that is otherwise so well made has such a common and irritating flaw!

Interesting to hear this is affecting other variants, as I thought it was just my A3 which had this problem! It's always 4th gear I've noticed it in too. There's a certain road I drive on every night where I always get the (brief) loss-of-power feeling...

Sorry to drag up and old topic but has anyone ever got to the bottom of this?
Thanks
Mike

Hi just a wee bump if anyone ever got to the bottom of this as the wife's 2010 A3 140 TDI is doing the same sometimes whilst going over a crest etc. as previous posters Audi cannot find anything wrong?
